Noble and rich on the nose, white toast. Flavor is even and full, plenty of doughy breads, seasoned with brine and grassy herbs. Mild for sure, but nice stuff. shadey (1501), Rochester, New York, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Aug 7, 2005 Clear gold color. Soapy head. Hardly any significant aroma. It was a little heavier than water and better than most pale lagers, but not by much. mctous (119), Herndon, Virginia, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jul 29, 2005 Clean pale malt aroma from a light, fine head. Straw-yellow with light cloudiness, but not overtly yeasty. Somewhat thin on both malt and hop flavor, like a weakened pilsner, with a dry, hoppy finish. Sorry Carol, but I’d rate this a near miss. Good craft lager. Much better than a yuengling or other cheaper lagers. Tmoney99 (4775), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 9, 2005 Bottle 12 oz at the Homestead. Poured a dark amber with a medium head. Medium malty aroma. Medium body. Medium flavor that was malty and green and very much in line with a helles with a good complex finish. AlchemistZ (493), Richmond, Virginia, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 20, 2005 Solid, gold color, very rich with a long-sustaining, whip cream head. Nose of toasted nuts and dry, grainy malt, bread dough and a good dose of green hop. Very malt balanced flavor with a hint of bitterness to balance. All aroma components are contained in the flavor profile. Flavor starts a medium-bodied though solid malt continuing into honeyish malt competing with fresh hop flavor (floral, spicy, perfumey) then finishing with a tart flavor characteristic of noble type hops. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 7, 2005 Re-rate. On tap at stoudts. After having htis a couple years ago in a bottle I was very dissapointed giving this only a 2.4. But since they have moved thier bottling back to stoudts and after having it fresh on tap I realize that this beer deserves a lot more credit than I had given it. Pours a nice medium gold with a lingering pure white head. Good slightly sweet aroma of pure pilsner malts with just a hint of herbal/spicy and floral noble hops. Flavor is very smooth with a good amount of malt on the tongue and hops in the back of the throat. Slightly crisp and dry aftertaste makes this a very refreshing beer on a hot summer day.
