Caramel pine and some faint floral characteristics. Warm and malty. Eh. beerbill (1919), Laurel, New York, USA Feb 24, 2009 750 ml bottle. Pours a deep, slightly hazed red with a moderate off-white head that lasted though the first third of the glass and left partial lace. The aroma is grotesquely sweet. Sweet caramel, honey and rotting apples are all present in the nose. Thankfully, the flavor in no way resembles the aroma, although it is hard to escape without inhaling a bit with each sip. Caramel and malt up front followed by some musty apples. Light bitterness at the finish. Were it not for the off-putting aroma, this would be a decent IPA.
