Commercial Description:
Our version of the English classic; Stoudt's India Pale Ale has a rich amber color, a complex malty flavor, and an assertive hop character. This special ale is bottle conditioned and should continue to develop in character as it matures.

Beautiful amber in colour with a fluffy cream coloured head, great lacing. Aroma of grapefruit, oranges, and some malt. Flavour had a surprising amount, lots of grapefruit, some lemon, pine, very nicely balanced. Full bodied, lots of carbonation. Finishes with a big grapefruit bitterness, some puckerness and slightly dry.

Gorgeous honey-red-brown body with a thin-but-creamy floating head being fed by a volcano of carbonation from the bottom of the glass. Lots of hops on the nose and very citrusy. Grapefruit flavours but not quite bitter enough for my liking - almost like a ruby red grapfruit instead of a nice white one. Long-lasting finish to this solid IPA.

765 ml bottle-11/28/03 bottled date. Im going against the grain on this one. I think i should have aged this bottle, but i just decided to drink it. fairly nice aroma, but somewhat one dimensional. very bland flavors-no finish-watery. very over-rated IMO.

765 ml bottle, "born on" November 2001. Dark nearly opaque copper, lovely even thick lasting head. Grassy, spicy nose. Luscious, creamy mouthfeel is reminiscent of Dreadnaught, though the flavor is less deep. Vanilla, pine, orange all play their roles, the finish quite earthy and relatively dry. It's lovely, though perhaps not quite my perfect cup of hops.

Beer pours very dark golden, almost light brown with a nice big fluffy off white head that is fully retained. Aroma is a veritable hop symphony beckoning me to take a drink. Very grapefruity to the nose. Flavor is initially sweet, followed by a nice big dose of hop bitterness. Just what the doctor ordered for a hop head in need.

Bottle-conditioned IPA which is now aged 2 years. Dark copper, sticky off-white head. Aroma is interesting, reminiscent of an english strong ale with complex hop character.. or a mellow american barleywine with a few years of age. Plenty of malt to keep me interested, almost like a scotch ale. Taste is superbly balanced, orangey east coast hops, light smokiness, earthy. Medium-bodied and smooth. A true winner, my new favorite IPA as it stands. Stoudts is my brewery of the month making subtle and pure brews, fully crafted and well-thought out. Thanks Martin!

(2-year-old bottle): Hearty molasses consecrate the luxurious union of creamy maple syrup and rich, grassy and peppery hops...This welcoming church is near-barley-wine in girth and splendor...Ripe oranges of all kinds form formidable bouquets of freshness and succeed in alleviating the abundant sweetness to great satisfaction...A moment so crafty and solemn, it should be celebrated with a solo cello in an open meadow...

A very good IPA. Deep amber color with a thick white head. Hoppiness all over the glass. Kind of chewy at first, but settles down to be a very good IPA. I'd have this over and over again if I could.
