Dark amber colour with a very dense tan head--this is the way an IPA should look! Aroma purely of very high a.a. hops--a hop-head's favourite smell! One of the best smelling IPA's i've ever come across, this one has definately been dry-hopped for a while! Medium-bodied; No carbonation in the taste, a strong sweetness initially followed by a subtle hoppiness which gets stronger as it sits in your mouth. It seems that the hops are stale or old, but the ones used for dry-hopping are still great! Overall, I was expecting much more, so I will definately try another bottle and compare it to this. Definately try this beer if you live in the Mid-Atlantic region! I bought this 765 mL bottle from Total Wine in Chantilly, Virginia and sampled it on 31-August-2003. redlem (1155), Illinois, USA

A caramel pine aroma. Nice carbonation. Smooth with lots of malts, slight pine taste. Sweet dry lingering finish. Excellent IPA that stands out from most others. 7.5%, where is it as I could not detect a hint of alcohol in the aroma or taste, in fact while drinking this I assumed it was around 5%, I did not have a clue it was this strong. chronictonic (404), Wyndmoor, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Sep 1, 2003 Very fruity aroma - the sweet, juicy hop aroma is one of the best I've encountered in an IPA. Medium to dark copper red in color. Excellent malt flavor predominates the tasting experience. Wonderful hop flavor, but not really bitter - just juicy and fruity. | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 11, 2003 The first thing that jumps out from the aroma is fruit - smells of apples and pears, classic English ale ester profile. There is also a strong, rich maltiness in the aroma, accompanied by mild English hops. Red amber in color with a persistent off-white head. Flavor is dominated by malt, which is blended nicely with mild English hops and the same fruits from the aroma. Body is extremely full, almost syrupy. Carbonation is moderate, but the full mouthfeel just about cancels this out. A tasty, complex IPA that doesn't emphasize American hops - nice change of pace. SJP (483), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jul 5, 2003 Dark amber color with a frothy beige head and a sweet hoppy nose. Initial taste is all malt, with fruit/apple notes. Very sweet. The hops bloom in the finish with subtle citrus notes. Pleasant alcohol sensation as you drink it. Very well balanced and very English for an IPA. I am finding out that I prefer the hoppier IPAs. Darkover (1317), Columbus, Ohio, USA
