Commercial Description:
Our version of the English classic; Stoudt's India Pale Ale has a rich amber color, a complex malty flavor, and an assertive hop character. This special ale is bottle conditioned and should continue to develop in character as it matures.

Hazy copper body. Somewhat lasting tan head. Aroma has cascade and grass hops. Orange-citrus with vanilla barrel flavor. Nice clean IPA... great overall depth, character, and balance.

last bottle from a trade with Pailhead, thanks for all of the great beers Kevin! with this being a 2 or 3 year old bottle, I gave it a vigorous pour. my efforts were rewarded with a hazy amber color and a one inch white head in my snifter glass. after a couple of minutes the head looked like whipped cream on top of a cup of hot chocolate. initial aroma of this one was of roasted caramel malt with some hints of piney hops. like others have noted, this has aged nicely to almost a mild barleywine. really enjoyed this one!

TnT2 ala Jason. Never thought I would see this again. Lightly hazed copper color with a taller tan head. The hops, like genie, have left the bottle. This one perhaps has been on the journey too long. Still, a dry caramel aroma with a hint of herbal hops. A more traditional IPA which I can embrace. Some mild fruity malt mixes with just enough hops to keep this one from still being thick. I’m not sure if it developing anymore character. but one can tell it has it.

This bottle conditioned brew had a vintage date of 8/29/02. It poured a medium sized head of light brown colored foamy finely sized long lasting bubbles that left behind a very hazy cloudy brown colored body with many fine particulates floating in it with no visible carbonation. The lacing was good. It had a mild flowery caramel hop aroma. The mouth feel was tingly mild and mellowed in its finish. The flavor was that of brown malts caramel malts and mild hops. It was not the IPA I was expecting and was definitely more like the English IPAs.

Bottle conditioned-Vintage date: 8/29/02. Small smooth ivory head that mostly dissipated, fine-small sized bubbles, poor lacing, no visible carbonation, cloudy, and an orange brown hue. Aroma was malty, lots of caramel and hops. Sweet, malty, caramel, mildly hoppy and syrupy tasting. Mildly tingly mouthfeel and syrupy. Light-medium body.

This pours a dark amber and orange with a yellowish head. The aroma is oranges, caramel and apples. Fairly sweet smelling for an IPA. The taste is caramel, toast and some oranges. This is slightly sweet. I was very surprised at the taste as this is more like an English style IPA. I appreciate the difference. Thanks for sharing, Jason.

2000 vintage, Y2k edition, Cuvee 1 bottle #4260. well, I should have known by the label with the plantes in orbit that this was a beer from outer space. It’s supposed to be an IPA, but was pretty far from it. dense light tan foamy head, rusty brown color and golden at the edges. cloudy. some yeast chunks. aroma is yeasty, a little sour. sort of hoppy. flavor is tangy and tart, a little woody, a little yeasty. surprisingly light to watery mouthfeel. medium carbonation. tart finish. enjoyable but almost like a light flemish sour! this is an IPA? Where were the hops?

Thanks to Jason for sharing Pours a yellowish copper color w/ a small white head and nice lacing. Something off in the smell that is then blended w/ carmel and citrus hop. The flavor was of citrus hops and a distinct floral taste w/ hints of raw lemon rind. Palate was pretty avg Overall an ok IPA, not a 4.0 beer.
