Aroma is slightly foul, accentuated with hops soaked in honey and yeasty sweet bread. Thin and slickly diffusing palate. Flavors of lavender, sourdough and a derelict pale yeast strain re-manifest from the nose and regretfully placate the taste buds. I have a hunch that Stoudts doesn’t differentiate much at all with their yeast strains per the various styles. Somewhat disappointing. Thanks for sharing, JCapriotti. 1FastSTi (2580), Glendale, Wisconsin, USA

It pours to a thin white head with decent lacing and a hazy brown body. The aroma is oranges and caramel malts. Lemons. The flavor is hoppy and malty. Oranges and caramel malts. euserphriendly (163), Holland, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 13, 2005 Nice color and carbonation levels in this one. Very appropriate look and feel. The hops seem to be a bit on the light side and the malt takes over a little as glass begins to empty. Just not quite spicy enough, more of an american pale ale. ABUSEDGOAT (1934), California, USA

Lots of sweet caramel malt up front with nice citrus hop background. Flavor is full of sweet caramel malt and mollasses, with some roasted grain, and light citrus hop finish.Blind tasting and swore this had to be a barleywine. Learn something new everyday. | 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Aug 1, 2005 Easily the best IPA I’ve ever had. Beautiful reddish brown color and long-lasting head. Poured from the 750ml bottle like a champ (bottled 3/2004) and the taste, wow, the taste is smooth and velvet. Hops are apparent but not hammering, nice. Perhaps the perfect "east coast" IPA? | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 30, 2005 Labeled as Y2K IPA, vintage 2000. Large frothy off-white head. Lasts for quite a while. Light carbonation. I am sure the arome has diminished over the years. Little bit of hops to accompany a dusty and slightly sour aroma that reminds vaguely of some vegetable or something but I cannot put my finger on it. Ah, just got it. Sauerkraut! YUMMY!!! Nice dark golden amber in color with good clarity. Slightly sour flavor with some hops presence and a nice roastyness hidden in there. Little hint of sauerkraut again. Finish is slick and slightly sour again with very little hops. I am sure that this brew has changed drastically over the years going from a great brew to a decent one. I am just glad that I finally got a chance to try one. I will have to rry to look for a newer vintage of this and re-rate.
