My very first Stoudt. Slight sweet toffee aroma. Darker than your typical pale yellow american beer. Not bitter on the hit and no bitter finish but, had just a little teeny bitter linger.

The aroma is malty, buttery, and hoppy. The appearance is orange/gold with a medium sized head. The flavor is toasted corn malt, herbs, and vegetables. The palate is thin but OK for the style. The aftertaste is very bread like. I am not in love with this one. I was hoping to have one of those elusive great Oktoberfest beers but alas the search continues.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a clear amber with a medium off-white head that lasted through the entire glass. Trace aroma of malt. Flavor was somewhat sweet and definitely on the light side. No evidence of hops. Smooth and very easy to drink, but then again so is water. This was a very average, nondescript beer.

12 oz bottle. Stoudt’s Oktoberfest is one of the better domestic examples of the style in my opinion, and this years version is excellent. This beer pours to a deep golden to light amber color, with a thick, white head that fades, and a good carbonation. The nose on this beer is excellent, with lots of great malty/grainy aromas of toast and nuts. The palate is firm, with lots of great toasty and nutty malt flavor, on a smooth, clean body. This beer finishes with more excellent malt flavors up front, then ends with the perfect amount of herbal hop bitterness to round this beer out. Outstanding, malty, delicious Oktobefest lager. A natural with hearty German fare, match this one with some grilled brats, kraut, and some good traditional German polka.

Poured a clear watery orange with no head. Strange aroma, grainy but not very pleasant. Flavor was better though, slighty malty with a nice solid hop flavor at the finish. Grainy mouth feel with a bitter after taste. Slow start, nice finish with the hop flavor.

Transparent copper pour with a off whit head that all but dissapears to a film around the edges. Some light, bready caramel malt and some thin hops, a bit of yeast. Flavor is more thin...the hops come out a bit more, giving a light sour/bitterness to the malt flavor...a bit watery a times. Not bad to have with a meal, but a bit too thin on the body to really enjoy.

Clear copper, off-white small head. Sweetened alfalfa aroma. Light grassy hops. Same with taste and some brownish chocolate. Pretty boring and typical.

On tap at Creed’s in KOP... Appears a glowing, slightly transparent, orange toned amber with a fluffy white head that slowly fades out. Lots of lacing is left around the tall pilsner glass that it was served in. Plenty of carbonation bubbles quickly rise to the top of the foamy head. Smell is malty with hints of caramel, grain, spicy hops, and mild corn. Taste is of the aromas with the flavor having a more spiced up and herbal bittering than I remember having in the past...although it may just be my palate changing. The malts and caramel seem to be washed out by a biscuity and hoppy bite. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, crisp, and dry in the swallow. This was alright but I actually switched over to wine for my pairing of a dry aged Delmonico...not very typical of me but it just didn’t deliver the package I was hoping for.
