Flavor is light and malty as well. Clean , light and bland. IMO, this used to be one of the great US made Fests, until Stoudts decided to make a more mainstream brew, and cut the gravity down from close to 6%. Lou18 (1353), West Paterson, New Jersey, USA

I have not had a whole lot from this brewer. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle the beer poured a bronze color with a small tan head. The aroma was sweet and malty. The flavor was strong malt, a hint of hops and a mild nutty taste on the finish. There was also a bit of a sour tang on the finish. A solid though not spectacular beer. willblake (2187), Belcamp, Maryland, USA

Pretzel aromas, some caramel. Bright graininess in this marzen. Fresh tasting and slightly vegetal. Juicy sweet on the finish. This beer is all over the place - not the easy-going balance, not strongly rooted in its maltiness, and generally too light. A bit of an orange pekoe aftertaste. I’d rather have almost any other marzen. zathrus13 (1313), Mount Laurel, New Jersey, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 22, 2004 Sparkly clear, yet deep, dark brown orange copper, thin and lasting head, decent lacing. Sweet spicy malt aroma. Sweet caramel in a smoother medium palate with rumbles of bitterness throughout. More spices at the finish - did they add spices to this or what?? Earlier Rating: 9/7/2002 Total Score: 2.4 Fizzy mouth. semi-sweet malts that later got a bit "chalky". not as thick as I had hoped. not much going on in this one.
