Stoudt’s Oktoberfest is one of the better domestic examples of the style in my opinion, and this years version is excellent. This beer pours to a deep golden to light amber color, with a thick, white head that fades, and a good carbonation. The nose on this beer is excellent, with lots of great malty/grainy aromas of toast and nuts. The palate is firm, with lots of great toasty and nutty malt flavor, on a smooth, clean body. This beer finishes with more excellent malt flavors up front, then ends with the perfect amount of herbal hop bitterness to round this beer out. Outstanding, malty, delicious Oktobefest lager. A natural with hearty German fare, match this one with some grilled brats, kraut, and some good traditional German polka. Uglyradio (776), Greenville, South Carolina, USA

Bit of a sharp, almost hoppy aroma. Very smooth. Solid malt with a light tight hoppy flourish. Downgraded a little bit from my earlier rating, which is was grossly inflated, but this is an awesome fest beer ... among the best I’ve had. dominion (78), charlotte, North Carolina, USA

Earlier Rating: 9/27/2001 Total Score: 3.2 Amber in color, decent white head that laced around the glass, good malt character, nicely balanced, medium body, nice hop flavors as well, a nice example of the marzen style
