Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12oz bottle into a big dimpled mug. There is no noticeable freshness date on the bottle. Appearance: It has a deep rich golden body with visible carbonation and good clarity. A two finger thick and foamy white head sits on top. It slowly fades to a thin layer that hangs on well and some slick lacing. Smell: The aroma is light and has a delicate light grain note with a slight hint of spicy hops. Taste/Palate: It has a crisp pale biscuity malt with some light roasted notes as well. There is a mild sweetness from the malt and a nice equal balance of bitterness and leafy/grassy/spicy hop flavor notes. It finishes crisply with a slight balance towards the bitter hop side. The palate has a medium body with plenty of active carbonation. Notes: Stoudts has an extremely drinkable crisp body and nice simple flavor that I could drink plenty of with some soft sour dough pretzels and mustard.

Bottle [12oz]. Pours a clear deep bubbly gold with an average size diminishing frothy off-white head. Aroma of light grassy hops, slightly vegetal, along with bread and toasted caramel malt. Flavour of sweet caramel malt, light grassy hops, again a touch vegetal, and something I can’t place, fruit perhaps. Average bodied. I’m not loving this, I don’t particularly like the style to begin with -- it isn’t bad, it’s just not for me.

On tap at Asgard, Cambridge MA, October 2009. Rich amber colour. Fairly dry malt with just a subtle bready element. Medium bodied. No appreciable residual sweetness (which is fine by me). Not one of my favoured styles but I found this one pretty decent and more to my taste than many.

12 oz bottle. Clear light brown/amber with a foamy off white head. Spicy hop aroma with some caramel and an earthy quality. Big bready malt flavor with a decent amount of bitterness. Medium body with active carbonation and a smooth finish.

Bland, non descript aroma, not sweet at all, kind of feels underwhelming for an octoberfest.. kind of like and average american dark lager... very boring, very bland...
