Courtesy SoLan. Vintage 2006. Pours a murky light brownish cider color, A small, foamy, cream colored head fades to a thin film with a bubbly edge. Sudsy spots of lacing slowly droop back down to the body. Big nougat and caramello notes waft into the nose, followed by rich toffee and buttercream. The whiskey fumes are faint, but definitely noticeable. Sweet, toasty toffee and caramel again headline the flavor, accompanied by an earthy hoppiness and warming whiskey heat. The mouthfeel is substantial, round, and exceedingly smooth. Very solid offering. The subtle infusion of the whiskey notes is well done.

Courtesy SoLan. Cloudy dark amber color with a thin, even, very light tan head Subdued whisky notes meld nicely with a dark fruity malt richness. Mildly spicy. The taste is also combines the barrel aging nicely. The barrel is almost imperceptible, but adds a nice subtle dimension. Well-balanced and not overpowering.

Courtesy SoLan. Pours a reddish amber, with fluffy, creamy head. Aromas of caramel, toffee, wheat, and some boozy apricot, if that makes any sense. Nice. Ripe apples in the nose, caramel, wheat and straw soaked in slight alcohol. Medium bodied, hides alcohol fairly well, about as drinkable as a barley wine can get.

Courtesy SoLan. Pours a deep copper amber, with a light off white head. Smells of rich caramel malts, some bready yeast, and some dark sweeter fruits. Liked the nose. The taste seems really nice and incredibly balanced. Not overpoweringon alcohol, which was pleasant. The caramel malts seemed to be the most prominent flavor, maybe some mild bourbon, and some candy characters. Very smooth and easy drinking brew, which I wasnt expecting. Nice.

SoLan hooks it up. Pours a murky, burnt brown. Aroma is malt dominant, some toasted bread notes, odd rum notes, some raisins to round it out. Flavor is well inegrated and balanced.

Cidery mahogany appearance with amber tinged lush cap. First whiff is of candied cherries with some mature peach notes, whiskey only perceptible at the periphery. Whiskey comes through in flavor, Canadian whiskey perhaps? Hopping is not evident. Medium-bodied barley wine that does not knock you over the head with alcohol. Shows restraint, stunning that this comes in at a whopping 9%. Whiskey flavor and aroma continue to develop with aeration. Pares excellently with chocolate.
