750mL bottle courtesy of akorsak poured into a snifter. Pours a deep hazy amber with a small off-white head that left little lacing and hung around as a collar for the duration. The aroma actually had a hint of hops still present up front with the caramel malts and toffee becoming dominant. The taste has the same basic character of the aroma. The caramel malts and toffee are still dominant with a slight citrus presence up front. The overall character is slightly buttery and has a smooth finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and a tad thin, but nothing too distracting. It’s still a bit prickly with a hop presence that I wasn’t expecting to still be there. This barleywine has held up well over the years and it was easy drinking as far as the style goes. Nothing stands out on this one, but it’s a well-balanced beer overall.

Bottle, courtesy Ibrew2or3. Copper pour, hazy, thick lacing, thick head. Big sharp woodsy notes with caramel. Charred, some unique spices. Dark caramel flavors, and chocolate, grainy, wheat and some roast. Spicy. Full-bodied, sharp and drinkable.

Dark brownish. Aroma is a bit light, caramel and some earthyness. Taste is brighter and fuller. More sweetness and some yeast and mellow spice and fruit. Some odd cardboard but not bad.

Liquid Sunshine V. 22-oz. Mistakenly rated originally under the BA entry. Murky medium amber with bright caramel highlights. Light gray rim around the edges. Creamy medium body. Orange pith, biscuit, caramel, and toast on the mid-palate.

Bottle shared at tasting. Pours dark amber with a light beige head. Smell is malty but not overly sweet. Taste is malty and hoppy and balanced. Medium body and nothing too abnormal or outstanding for the style, I thought. Decent enough.

Pours clear copper with microscopic tan head. The aroma is malty to caramel sweet to go along with some raisins, prunes and a mild level of pine hops. The taste is neutral to start and then moves into sweetness with sweet sugary malts, prunes, raisins and figs. It seems to thin out a bit by midway with more dark fruitiness and brown sugar. Tasty stuff.
