Appearance: Pours a clear, ruby-hued body totally lacking any head, but it’s from out a growler, so it is to be expected. Smell: Aroma smelling of piney, earthy hop notes and toasted toffee and caramel. Taste: Caramel, toffee maltiness with a slight hint of toasted breadcrusts and mild sweetness. Earthy hops with a flavor of pine and leafy hints. Touch of fruit. Medium-high bitterness, though. Subtle alcohol warmth. Drying, bitter finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Mild carbonation. Drinkability: Not the best barleywine out there, that’s for sure. Some are more-ish, leaving you eager for the next sip. This keeps you sipping just to be finished with it.

Sampled from a growler: Pours a transparent bright copper with a small froth of light tan head. Aroma of fresh citrusy and piny hops with a good caramel maltiness and some light fruity esters. Body starts with good fullness and sweet caramel flavor with a fairly assertive grapefruity hop balance before a drier, crisp finish. A pretty nice barleywine.

Pours deep reddish brown with not much carbonation. No head. Smells of very sweet malts and some hops. Light body. First taste is sweet and flat followed by a bitterness. Very light bodied for an 8.5% ABV. Less flavor than I expected.

Draft. Hazy amber in color with fruity caramely nose. The taste was of light candy and caramel malt with nice fruity presence. Nice light hop finish. This is a nice light BW.

Pours a cloudy redish orange color with foamy white head. Aroma of malt hops and lots of alcohol. Flavor is pretty well balance with a lot of bitter hops and a nice amount of malt to balance out the strong sweet alcohol presence.
