To see the flowers of the Humulus Lupulus vine always a good sign to me. The beer looked appropriately pale and very clear. The clarity proved a showcase of the highly bubbly nature of the beer, which produced a foamy white head that was bigger than typical for a Pils at nearly two fingers thick. The aroma was that of restrained, spicy, noble hops, and the sweet honey like Pilsner malt with just a touch of vegetal DMS. The taste was clean and balanced with sweet malt with a hint of corn just edging out the hops. Due to the lack of bitterness this one wasn’t quite flawlessly crisp, but was flavorful enough to overlook the bit of muddiness. The beer felt quite full in the mouth considering the style, and a spicy aftertaste. I would pick this any day of the week over the swill being foisted on the uneducated public, but there are other better microbrewed Pilsners out there. guzzler67 (1285), Hanover, Maryland, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 3, 2006 Pale, light gold appearance with a good size head that left plenty of lacing. Muted, hoppy aroma; medium-to-light bodied mouthfeel that was generously carbonated. Crisp, dry, bitter taste without a lot of maltiness to gum things up. Hangover (770), Atlanta, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 30, 2006 Clear gold color, initially with some active carbonation then fading into a simple, clear pilsener. Straw/grassy aroma, slightly sour. Lots of saaz. Carbonation comes back to hit you, mouthfeel is crisp and active. Hops up front, grassy and slightly floral. Slight maltiness in the finish. I like when pilseners are done right. Just a clean, refreshing, low abv beer you can chug all day long and not tire of it. Pretty good! TheBeerOrg (1584), Kentucky, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | Mar 2, 2006 Pours perfectly clear yellow with a thin white head. Aroma of grassy, herbal Saaz with bready cereal malty notes. Taste is primarily the essense of the flowery, unique, and strangely spicy Saaz hop flower. Little bit of toasted cracker malts in the background. The finish is quite dry with a nice oily hop resin. Classic German lager yeast. Mouthfeel is light bodied with a slight resinous quality and lively carbonation. Just a bit off, this didn’t have the complexities I was looking for. elnadeau (786), Laguna Niguel, California, USA

This one did not stack up that well, there were better pilsener examples present that evening. Rockinout (946), Kent, Ohio, USA

| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 30, 2006 There is a very slight malty and hoppy aroma. The color is a very pale light golden, a little to clear. A crisp clean taste and light finish on the palate. TheBeerLover (1019), DC Metro Area, USA
| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Jan 25, 2006 Stoudt’s Pils pour to a beautiful, bright, light blonde color with a thick, creamy white head, and a lively carbonation. The nose on this beer is superb. Very fragrant, grassy/herby hop aromas flood the nose. This beer is hopped with Saaz hops in abundance, and the vibrant hop flavors and aroma dazzle. The palate is crisp and clean, with a wonderful flavor of lightly kilned pilsner malt. The body is smooth and round, making this beer very drinkable. This beer finishes with a very aggressive grassy hop bite that lingers on the tongue, letting you know you just had one fantastic beer.
