Commercial Description:
The driest and most delicate of our lagers. Stoudt’s Pils is characteristic of the traditional European Pilseners. Straw-yellow and assertively hopped with Saaz hops, this frequent medal winner has a refreshing bitterness and refined hop aroma.

Pretty good, but lseems somewhat lacking in the pilsener-specific hop flavor that I do enjoy. Has plenty of hops and is refreshing and light, but has a little of a nasty macro-brew style flavor to it. Pretty good and well worth the money, I got a 6 pack for 7 bucks. But as price is no object at RateBeer, its just a decent pilsener.

12 oz bottle-pours a foamy white head that laces. Hazy straw/yellow with effervescence. Aroma is a lively floral nose, light malt. Taste is grain & tart with a bite, grapefruity. Nice, Bold & balance is tilted slightly to the tart side. Good carbonation. Best Before 1/24/06.

Dull lemon body with a big, sudsy white head. Aroma of fresh cut lime plus pale nuts and a touch of sulfur. Sweet lime flavor although the finish is fairly dry with lingering grassy and herbal hops. A fair, easy-drinking pils.

2005 bottle consumed on 11/10/05. Well-formed white head atop a lemonade-colored body (hint of lime-green). Chill haze and bottle conditioned. Aroma of sweaty hops, light, sour malted grains, some biscuit hints and a touch of fruity lemon bitterness. Flavor shows a fair range of malt ranging from grainy, lightly toasted notes, to dry biscuity notes and a hint of honey. Quite sweaty hops in the flavor, with a touch of dry herbs. Maybe too biscuity and grainy overall, and could stand some more honey and spicier hops notes, but then, that would probably turn it in to a different beer. Quick, crisp, clean finish with an engaging carbonation and a touch of lager yeast bite to it.

Lager glass, 12 oz bottle. Already having consumed five of these, I think it’s time I rate. Tall, rocky-frothy white head is well lasting and leaves nice sheet lacing. Medium gold hue and lively carbonation. Wonderful honey and toasted light bread malt aroma followed by an enticingly spicy, lemongrass and floral hop profile. Moderate sweetness upfront, just as the aroma indicates, followed by a light bitterness. Finishes with a firm bitterness and spritely carbonation. Medium-light bodied with a velvety texture.

Aroma weak, a little bit like liverwurst. Flavour less weak, but not strong. A tad sour, a tad dry. Crisp in texture and taste. (Thankfully) not sweet. Interesting, to say the least. Strange hop flavour...substantial amount of hops, but not very bitter. This is a curious brew. I would not say that this brew is really characteristic of anything...definitely innovative. I’m not sure I like it all that much though...maybe it’ll grow on me? I could certainly drink more.

Clear, clean glowing yellow pour with a frothy, pillowy head. Nose is a punch of hop spice and citrus. Mouthfeel is even with slightly high carbonation. Flavor offers assertive hops indeed that are richly dry and spicy. This hop onslaught is somewhat tempered by a biscuit malt flavor that guides toward a smooth finish. A very well done pilsner that rivals its central European forebears.

120z. bottle. Pale yellow color with a small fluffy white head. Spicy herbal hops, rich grainy malt, and some sulfer in the aroma. Sharp citrus flavor, with clean malts. Acrid floral hop bite in the crisp finish. Mouthfeel is light and dry.
