Commercial Description:
The driest and most delicate of our lagers. Stoudt’s Pils is characteristic of the traditional European Pilseners. Straw-yellow and assertively hopped with Saaz hops, this frequent medal winner has a refreshing bitterness and refined hop aroma.

Pours a clear golden color with a small off white head that recedes quickly. The aroma is crisp and shows toasted bread, pale malts, and some piney hops as well. The flavor follows this trend with toasted bread and sweet pale malts being balanced by the grassy hop bitterness. Medium bodied, balanced carbonation, and easy drinking with a crisp and dry finish. Nothing crazy, but a nice refreshing Pils that would be great in the hot weather.

12oz bottle from Sam’s, Durham. Nice straw color with some lively carbonation. Grassy aroma, with peppery hops and just a bit of malts in the nose. Body’s crisp and frothy, even if it thins out too quickly. Playful mouthfeel, so that the hops get somewhat prickly. Dry finish, a bit of hay blended with the pepper. Maybe just a bit too one-dimensional, but this is a rock solid beer to style.

From a 12 fl. oz. bottle with an expiration date of 9/8/08. I did not sample this until March 09. It pours a pale yellow into the pilsener glass with an abundant supply of foamy, puffy white head. There was a lot of carbonation. The aroma is kind of grainy, grassy, and hoppy. The taste has many of the same elements but more on the bitter side. Despite having this beyod its expiration date, I was satisfied with the result.

Yellow pour with one finger head. Good lacing. Spicy, hoppy and grainy nose. Flavor is hops, grains and flowers. Dry finish with some bitterness. Saaz hops are very nice.

Bottle. Pour is clear gold with white head. Taste is doughy, herbal and grany with a good bit of hoppiness. I liked this one.

Bottle. Pours gold with a white head. The aroma has a nice hoppy bite, spicy and floral, with a touch of sweeter malt. The flavor is well balanced, saaz up front and in the finish with some grain and sweet malt in the middle. Refreshing for sure.

12oz bottle best by July 14th so I’m assuming this is pretty fresh. Clear gold with a fluffy white head. Grassy and spicy hop aroma with light dough and sweet pale malt. malty and smooth with a light sweetness going into a big, spicy and bitter hop flavor. Dry finish with lingering bitterness. Light and crisp body with fine carbonation. This is damn hoppy stuff, but smoother that prima and a bit more quaffable. Saaz overload and I like it.

Pours gold with a cleanly articulated white head. Aroma of grass and crackers. Flavor is surprisingly mellow, and palate is subdued rather than pilsner-like crisp. Overall feel of the beer suggests sweet mild fruit. This beer works as a drink but is stylistically suspect for me.
