Some bitter/floral hops, slightly malty with a vague breadiness; I bought it at the brewery, so it had to be fresh. This must be what Pilsner Urquell is like in Plzen; I have to think of Josef Svejk when I drink this. I agree with "Trappist Ales Rule," this is damn near perfection. The nose on this beer is superb. Very fragrant, grassy/herby hop aromas flood the nose. This beer is hopped with Saaz hops in abundance, and the vibrant hop flavors and aroma dazzle. The palate is crisp and clean, with a wonderful flavor of lightly kilned pilsner malt. The body is smooth and round, making this beer very drinkable. This beer finishes with a very aggressive grassy hop bite that lingers on the tongue, letting you know you just had one fantastic beer.

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jun 22, 2004 Big 25 oz bottle: Great appearance- light yellow with a substantial head and great carbonation. Aroma is spicy herbal grassy and slightly earthy. Flavors are hoppy backed up with some soft smooth ligth malts. I really like prima pils better, but I think stoudts pils is more to style and is almost as enjoyable. This one is highly under-rated. Go to the brewery and pick up a couple of the big bottle conditioned pils’s if you are in the area. Cletus (5055), Connecticut, USA

Tastes of crisp dry malt accompanied by a hint of peppery bitterness and some citrussy splashes on the finish. This is an excellent beer for the summer!
