Draught at the brewery: Aroma of chocolate, light roasted malt, and light piney hops. Poured very dark brown/amber/black in color with a large, creamy, brown head that lasted throughout. Clear. Not sparkling. Excellent lacing. Flavor is lightly sweet. Tastes of roasted malts, light chocolate, light cream, slight hops, and a hint of wood. Medium body. Average texture. Average carbonation. Roasted malt and chocolate finish.

Tap at the brewery. Pours out a dark brown color with a nice fluffy dark tan head. Deep roasted malt aroma, almost meaty, chocolate and some dark fruit. Taste is big on the roasted malts, beef jerky, dark fruits, dark chocolate and a very slight bitterness on the finish, rich and filling, rather well done.

Draft at brewpub. Pours blackish with dark brown edges and off-khaki head that doesn’t lace much. Nose is roasty dark malt, dark chocolate, blackberry. Tastes rich, with roasty dark malt, cacao, brown sugar, and blackberry/dark fruit notes, as well as some mild late rauchy notes. Complex and medium to hefty on the palate, this one is very good.
