Poured very dark brown/amber/black in color with a large, creamy, brown head that lasted throughout. Clear. Not sparkling. Excellent lacing. Flavor is lightly sweet. Tastes of roasted malts, light chocolate, light cream, slight hops, and a hint of wood. Medium body. Average texture. Average carbonation. Roasted malt and chocolate finish. pineypower (1076), Pine Barrens, New Jersey, USA Aug 13, 2009 Tap at the brewery. Pours out a dark brown color with a nice fluffy dark tan head. Deep roasted malt aroma, almost meaty, chocolate and some dark fruit. Taste is big on the roasted malts, beef jerky, dark fruits, dark chocolate and a very slight bitterness on the finish, rich and filling, rather well done. DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 10, 2009 Draft at brewpub. Pours blackish with dark brown edges and off-khaki head that doesn’t lace much. Nose is roasty dark malt, dark chocolate, blackberry. Tastes rich, with roasty dark malt, cacao, brown sugar, and blackberry/dark fruit notes, as well as some mild late rauchy notes.
