Sep 17, 2007 Pours a slightly clouded ruby brown with a lighter tan head. Nose is hopped and slightly cherry sweet, with a stronger overall sugary tone to it. Flavor is lacking. Seems to be a bit too traditional, but it falls off way too fast. Almost tastes like semi stale pretzels...or just pretzels in general. There is an overall bitter tone to it, but I just think it lacks. Feel is nice with a decent carbonation. Drinkable, yes. Isn’t horrid, but it’s definitely not the best ESB you’ve ever had.

Sep 15, 2007 Bright golden-amber colour. Caramelly, earthy nose. Earthy and sweet, with lots of caramel and a hint of nuttiness. Fairly nondescript, disappointing for my first Stoudts in a long while.

Sep 11, 2007 Amber color with no head. Aroma is caramel, a bit of nuttiness, dried fruit. Taste is a faint caramel, light hoppiness, and fruit undertones.

Aug 20, 2007 Tap at the Brew Kettle. Softly textured copper-red pour. Pine resins and maple wood on a smooth, bitter nose. Subtle to taste. A stark biscuit malt canvas, dry with cinnamon dust. Strokes here and there of cranberry skin, minerals, and dark raw nuts. Medium palate with a quiet strength. This is well-made and could benefit from a bolder sweetness to compliment its earthy tones. Very respectable.

Aug 17, 2007 On tap @ Buckeye Beer Engine: Pours a clear dark copper color with an off white head. Aroma, caramel, toffee, and some slight nutty notes. Flavor, caramel and earthy some herbal notes as well. So so.

Aug 6, 2007 12 oz. bottle. Pours a dark sienna. Aroma of sweet potatoes and beets. Medium sweet mouthfeel with a hint of honey. Dry, bitterness takes this beer across the finish line.
