Malty-hoppy freshness invites me to drink this beer... smells hoppy as a pale ale, but a rich amber, vaguely reddish color suggests other wise. nice frothy off-white head. This is a seriously hoppy esb, very fresh and citrus flavored. The malt is subdued, but IMO decently balanced, as I tend to prefer pale ales anyway. The malt gives a nice roundness to the hops. ITs quite smooth, easygoing, and medium/light bodied, quaffable in large quantities... some might find it a alittle too light, but it’s excellently refreshing and has a decent dollop of flavor. I’d take a case of it anytime. jehoey (766), Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, USA

The appearence is bronze and slightly red. The flaver is has lovely carmel notes and great hop character. I could drink a beet like this everyday Hangover (769), Atlanta, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 7, 2006 Clear bronze pour with some red highlights and an intitially frothy white head. Caramel and light fruit in the aroma as well as a sweet maltiness. Hops shine in the taste, with a nice bitittering on the palette, fading to a smooth malty finish. Pretty well balanced. Some floral hoppiness lingers well past the finish. I like ESB’s and this makes a great every-day drinking beer, although it is a bit pricey where I am. 11026 (1796), Alabama, USA

Good balanced flavor between the malt and the hops with neither dominating. Smooth finish makes this a great session ESB. CaptainCougar (5517), Rockville, Maryland, USA
