Red/amber body with a creamy tan head. Aroma is fruity and sweet, some strawberry. Flavor mostly strawberry and hops, otherwise a bit too thin. Tasty but not satisfying.

Deep copper color with hints of red. Thick creamy head. Virtually no aroma or flavor. Watery and thin. Needs more malt and hops.

Nice orange/red with a small, disappearing white head. Aroma is caramel and malts. Flavor is toasty with malts and just about stops dead in the finish with a little light bitterness. And that’s it. Mouthfeel very light. I can’t complain...

Pours an orange/amber color with a small but persistent head, and LOTS of floaties. I get an earthy yeasty malty nose. Taste is very subdued. A little toasted caramel and malts perhaps. The finish has a very subtle bitterness with a sweet edge. All in all a drinkable ale, a little thin for me, though, and I happen to like a tad more pop at the end as far as bitterness. I’ve had better ESBs, but can’t seem to complain too much about this; I wouldn’t kick it out of ’bed’.

2004 bottle. Pours a medium dark copper-mahogany. Fine oat colored head. Aroma of light dusty earthen hops. Soft toffee and a light nuttiness. Flavor was soft, lightly bitter and quite mild. The malt is easygoing, mainly a caramel profile, with a bit of a loose, lightly watery texture. Finish was the best though, quite English, no use of highly bitter alpha hops, just soft and pleasing, with a nice clean end. Unlike the American take on these, this one is not that bitter, which is more authentic and more enjoyable to me. No huge complexities here, but a solid ale and quite drinkable.

Pretty good beer. A little bit of a sweet flavor which I liked. Haven’t had too many ESB’s so I can’t really compare it to anything, but it hit the spot. Looking forward to taking a trip to Stoudt’s one of these days.

Aroma of sweet pine sap. Flavor is of a sweet malt and floral and piney hops. Good but not great.
