| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 2, 2007 RBSG 07. A slightly hazed brown pour with a tan head and light lace. A super sweet nose rich in malt. A bit of a let down on flavor it is kind of weak or thin a bit bland. The palate is a bit thin as well. Not bad but I was really stoked to get to try it. Thanks to whomever brought it. Eyedrinkale (3209), Astoria, New York, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 31, 2007 750 ml bottle. Easily one of the best Stoudts beers I’ve had and a real shame this is no longer available. Sweet and malty with just the right amount of light smokiness to make it really interesting. The hops sting just right and the spicy nutmeg and cinnamon are there also. Bring it back, damn it!! muzzlehatch (4427), Burlington, Vermont, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jul 11, 2007 Sample from 750 ml bottle (2001), RBSG Minneapolis Grand Tasting, June 23 2007. Near-black with a slight translucence to it, a bit of lasting foam and a touch of lacing....faintly boozy but mostly gorgeous aroma, prunes and raisins soaked in caramel and port, a bit of hazy smoke mellowing them out....the body is a bit on the thin side, no surprise, but the solid woody/earthy character shines through, caramel and port dominating and a hint of English hops around midpalate....with a bit of warmth, marzipan and coconut make appearances in the nose and by the end of my (thankfully rather large) sample I’m actively angry at myself for not having shelled out for a few of these when they were available. Damn! A knockout.
