Cask Days 2009 @ volo. almost black pour with a couple of capping bubbles. nice dark malt aroma, not relly that big of a nose. the flavour is quite balanced but its a nice roasted malt lager. good stuff.

Cask. At Volo Cask Days 2009. Black-brown pour with a small off-white frothy head. Vinous, mild aroma of leather/tobacco (merlot), quickly overpowered by somewhat vegetal and dry herbal bittereness - not all that roasty. The taste is decent - roasted coffee beans and mild merlot, light, but not at all vegetal. Light, slick and dry mouthfeel, slightly acidic, weak malt body, but no aftertaste. Fairly decent, not crazy about the aroma.

On cask @ Volo cask days: Appearance: Dark cherry with a small white head. Aroma: Toasty malt, wet cardboard, grass and some sourness. Flavour: Bitter, sour, malt, ’socks’, quite young, might need a few more weeks aging...

[2558-20091031] Cask. Mild orange fruity aroma has a weird outhouse leaf and wet earth waft. Murky, dark brown body with a quick bubbly off-white head. More weirdness continues in the flavour with bitter notes of leaf and earth and an alcoholic watery finish. Full body. Sadly doesn’t live up to the name but a fair attempt.

Volo Cask Days 2009. Loads of roast in this beauty. Dark char roast, touches of coffee even. Not much hops around except for a slight bitterness in the finish. A real treat for schwarz fans.

Cask Days 2009 @ Bar Volo, Toronto, ON: Pours cloudy, almost black, no head for me. A great, strong aroma is dominated by molasses with some roasted malt notes. Bitter and malty taste with chocolate, quite nice. Name > beer, but still good.

2009-10-31. Lightly hazy dark brown-black body. Roasty malt aroma, light tangy note to it. Flavour is quite hoppy, dark malt and roast, green hops start to take over a bit as it goes on. 6+ Average plus palate. Interesting. Cask at Volo Cask Days 2009

Volo Cask Days 2009. Rather a bit out of character for Stratford, a premium abv shwartzbier, and it worked and was popular. Some stout aroma, lots of bubbly head on a black body. A story in roast.Drinkable, though a pint is a lot of it.
