hughie (3015), Bedford, Bedfordshire, England Aug 2, 2009 At Chriso’s pre GBBF Shindig ’09. From a can labelled ’Strongbow Black’. Gold. Odd sickroom aroma: linen and disinfectant. Very sweet taste with some astringency. Not as bad as I thought it might be. At festivals and gatherings, I find a cider every tenth sample is an excellent plan. oh6gdx (8794), Vasa, Finland Aug 1, 2009 Canned (as Strongbow Black). Golden colour, mediumsized white head. Aroma is quite much apple, a bit metal as well as wood. Flavour is quite much the same. Rather refreshing atleast when cold. Bullit (1300), Glasgow, Scotland Jul 27, 2009 Can, Strongbow Black, from off-license. Clear orange colour. Nose is sweet apple, metallic. Flavour has sour apple, alcohol noticable. Slightly dry and bitter finish. Honestly, this one is not too bad. fonefan (10868), VestJylland, Denmark Jul 13, 2009 Can 50cl. [ As Strongbow Black 7.5% ]. Clear light to medium orange yellow color with a small to average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white to white head with a light light pink shin. Aroma is moderate apple and pear, sour fresh apples, alcohol notes. Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet and light acidic with a average to long duration, and a dry finish. Body is light to medium, texture is watery, carbonation is soft. [20090626] MiP (8792), Sønderborg, Denmark Jul 10, 2009 Can, 7.5% as Strongbow Black. Subtle white wine aroma. Clear orange colour, pink shine. Very small white head. White wine and cider flavour. Hint of citric apple. Does not taste its ABV. schuimkroaat (391), Leuven, Belgium Nov 6, 2006 Tjah, rating #300 but #1 for cider. 0.5 L can, ’bbe’ Oct 07. Dark golden with a scarce carbonation. The aroma begins with a punch of odour reminiscent of small, sour apples with a ’shrivelled’ structure; pleasant, but fades away rather quickly. Bland, sweet-sour taste with a strong medicinal bitterish background and aftertaste (saccharin). A not really appetising palate with a hint of soap. What’s the point of brewing ’dry cider’ and then throwing sugar and artificial sweetener into it? Well, I guess, making a drink sweet enough to suit the common, undemanding taste yet strong enough to render you pissed quickly and efficiently. Nagash (202), Paris, France Jul 26, 2005 Strange aroma, a bit disgusting. Nice flavor, but maybe too much alcool in taste and a strong chemical flavor. Not so bad, but i expected better. leaparsons (4658), Leicester, Leicestershire, England Dec 6, 2004 Surprisingly golden in colour compared to the other "Super" ciders - could be artificial colouring though. Aromas are artificial sweetner with hints of apple. Dry and a bit musty. Flavours are sweet with chemicals and even some apple! Everything is thin apart from the liver damage. Dry on the finish but in an unpeasant way. Better than Diamond White!
