Starts intense sourish but not too much. Wonderful fruity notes of grapes, plums and raisins. A maltiness soft as velvet. Goes down slowly burning, a bit prickly, warming. Well balanced sourish. Wonderful! mcbackus (742), Merritt Island, Florida, USA

Aroma is fantastic tons of vanilla hits me at first then a nice crabapple tart fruit. Slight honey and a near vinegar sour. Very good just got some great dried dark fruit. Flavor is a very light sourness of unripe granny smith apples and crabapples, dry fruit of figs, and just a little sweetness believe it or not great beer could be a little more sour. Poured cloudy brown color with a minimal frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Medium to heavy dark fruit, alcohol and wood aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and good carbonation. Medium to heavy sweet & sour flavor with a medium to heavy sour finish of moderate to long duration.
Complex sour that is a standout for style. austone (1039), Turku; Pori, Finland

Very dark ruby, nearly black, tiny and coarse beige head. Aroma has dry Käck liquorice, hint of cherry, balsamico sourness, dark grapes. Warming balsamico flavor, burned notes, licorice, little figs, spiciness I can’t get a grib of, long balsamico finish similar to Rodenbach GC. Totally lovely sour, keeps getting better with every sip, got even some roasty notes. shigadeyo (2263), Harrison, Ohio, USA

Pours a cloudy dark purplish-brown color with no head, only a few bubbles and a ring around the glass. Leaves very slight lacing. Aroma is fairly tart with red wine, cherries, wood, and spices. Flavor is incredibly vinous, with dry, tart red wine dominating, along with cherry, raisin, brown sugar, vinegar, oak, and spice. This is seriously one of the most wine-like beers I’ve ever had. Flavor is nice though, tasty and full, and finish is long. Body is medium and the palate is silky smooth. Carbonation is very low, at borderline Lost Abbey levels, but this actually doesn’t detract much since this beer is so wine-like. Drinkability is pretty average. Poured deep murky ruby-brown with a small frothy off-white head - looks mysterious, I gotta go 4/5 for the chunkiness. Love sour vinous aroma, cherry, prune/plum tartness, moderate alcohol and a hint of mid-bodied dry red wine - a bit musty, but this one pushed my buttons. The taste is dry, musty, minerally - the plummy sourness has faded, just a residual tart berryfruit acidity balanced against dry, earthy oak - I kept thinking "is this not a vintage merlot?" Slick, thick and acidic mouthfeel, fairly flat, with a long dry-resin bitter/acidic finish. I freakin’ loved it - not everyone’s cuppa, but hell to the yeah for me! Clear dark brown body.
Acetic, almost medicinal aroma. Some dark brown sugar.
Tart, acidic some fruitiness.
Improves some as it warms as the sweetness that was limited initially comes forward some to give it a bit of balance.
