Pours cloudy brown with a off white bubbly head. Aroma is of sour vinegar, earthy, vinous, dark fruits (raisins) . Sweet & pleasant (still very complex) and still with a nice sour bite. Very good & sticky Flemish all the way. beerbuzzmontreal (2911), Montreal, Quebec, Canada

Amazing flavor of fruits, vinegar, chocolate and sourness, it gets dry in the end. The body is light while the carbonation is moderate. Merci David! | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 8, 2008 Updated: Jan 9, 2008Bottle labelled, ’limited to 5000 bottles every 2 years’. That makes it feel pretty special before I’ve even started. Inky claret tipped into the Westvleteren snifter just vacated by a 12. Not a hint of a head, but so what? Wafts with wood, glue, olive saltiness, juicy red wine acidity, oak, tannin. Metallic buttery vanilla tartness meshing slightly mulled grape and black cherry with incongrous peaty single malt. A sweet-sourness on the lips only slightly more aggressive than Rodenbach, but faintly warming. More assertively sour as it warms. The most red wine-like beer I’ve encountered to date. Juicy, sourish, strange and good. Cletus (5057), Connecticut, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 3, 2008 Bottle courtesy of yespr. Pours brown with a thin white ring of bubbles. Smells of vinegar, some residual sugar, some woody touches. Taste yields some nice vinegary sourness with an underlying bitterness. Reminds me of older Rodenbach Grand Cru. badbeer (433), Iowa, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 2, 2008 Thanks to iowaherkeye. Murky brown color with a white head; interesting retention to it. Smell was mostly sour, but some sweet caramel and cherry seemed to come in as well. Sourness and oak in the taste, but unfortunately there was also some metallic flavors too. Maybe I’m missing the big deal with this one, but it just wasn’t that great to me. heemer77 (4304), Savannah, Missouri, USA

The aroma was strongly vineous with some caramel backing. There was a rich cherry candy note. The taste was lightly sour, much less than I expected after the massive up front nose. The taste was cherries and a little bit of pineapple. There was definite vineous character. This was simple, but obviously well made. Fukito (604), Buenos Aires, Argentina
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 24, 2007 Bottle at Chris’s, november 07. Clear, very dark brown color with some rubby hues and no head. Smells like vinegar, balsamic, oaky. Sweet/ vinegary flavor with some musty and balsamic notes. A touch of tomato juice, quite sweet finnish for such a sour starting beer, nearly fruity finnish. Medium MF, bry but not completely so with a nice fruity aftertaste. Nice, not unidimensional sour ale. franksnbeans (265), Columbus, Maryland, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 23, 2007 Pours a muddy dark brown with extremely minimal cinnimon head. Smells of sour cherries and black licorice, fig and earthy. Taste is very tart and mildly fruity and a lot of vinegar. This is extremely complex though I must admit my limited knowledge of the style takes away from me knowing them. Medium in the mouth and a dry finish. Sips and drinks like a wine.
