Commercial Description:
Due to its authenticity, Earthmonk received as little sugar as possible during bottle conditioning in order to preserve all original aromas and flavours. This beer comes with little carbonation and a mini head. Is best served at cellar temperature and poured generously, meaning from a hight of approximately 15 to 20 CM, in an upright standing tulip glass. A big bubbled head will quickly make place for the Earthmonk coming alive! Bottle-conditioned in 33cl (5000 btls.) and 75cl (1000 btls.). At Struise, we never retire beers. At ratebeer, Beers are retired when a new batch is not bottled within 12 months. As Earthmonk takes 18 months to age on oak... we have to be patient.

appena apperta si cattura all’istante il suo profumo principale: aceto balsamico il dolce dello stile è quasi assente

(Bottle 75 cl) Courtesy of Grovlam. Pours a clear, beautiful ruby red colour with a small, rough, beige head. Fantastic tart aroma of wood and dried fruit - extremely vinous. Medium in body and almost flat. Flavours are again raisins, wood and grapes, lots of sourness and a metallic edge. Underneath the sourness lurks a very distinct sweetness. This is one fantastic sipper. Extremely delicious. 080707

Dark red, near black colored, little yellow head. Rich aroma indeed with sourness, and berries, licorice, mild smoke, mild bubblegum and nice alcohol, deep and complex one. Medium to full bodied. Flavor has also strong sweet and sour sides, licorice and vinous tones also present. Aftertaste turns to nicely dry and hopped after sweet start, still some licorice lasts with mild alcohol. Extremely complex though very sweet brew.

From 75 cL bottle. Pours hazy brown with no head. Earthy sour with dark sugarish malt note. Slight chemical/paint aroma. Very low carbonated. Lovely sour/estheric flavour while still having a nice sweet note. Very dry however.

Bottled (Thanks Diabel!). Dark amberish ruby colour, small off-white head. Aroma is big sourness. Flavour is sour dark fruits, earth, plum and raisins. Very sour fruits in the aftertaste. Nicely done!

Dark brown appearance with nearly no head. Strong aroma that is quite winelike. Very sour taste, mixed with some cherry that sweetens towards the end. Unique beer that has a taste that is extremely memorable.

Poured a muddy brown with a white head that didn’t last long. Aroma consisted of a winelike quality with a sourness also present. The taste was very similar to a gueze, very funky and sour with some granny smith apple and cherry tartness. As it warmed the taste went from a sour to more of a sweet finish.

Strong black cherries in the citric aroma with notes of beeswax, leather, and horseblanket. Opaque darkest brown, almost black coloured body is topped by a decent and lasting off white head. Sour cherries are well matched by expansive malt sweetness. Light underlying sourness offers a counterpoint. Medium full body with very lively, soft bubbled carbonation. Sampled with Oakes in January 2007.
