Commercial Description:
First blended by Glenn & Urbain at the Bles Festival in Zottegem Belgium, last October 2008, for the beer geek public, and around closing time. Many positive feedbacks around the blend, kept following both breweries. As a tribute, and honour to the late Pre-Zbf 2009 festival, we decided together with Alvinne, to officialize this blend to a one time labelled bottling this year. Only a thousand 33cl bottles were filled, to be distributed and sold on this fest, and in our respective shops.

33 cl bottle shared by beastiefan2k. Pour is ruby read, cloudy with a slight off white head. Looks a lot like murky cranberry juice. Aroma of cherry fruit, sugary, with perhaps a touch of straw yeastiness underneath the fruit. Pleasant, though straightforward and one dimensional. The straw comes a bit more to the front as the beer warms. Taste is the nose, with cherry fruit sweetness, followed by the earthy yeast character. Taste is nice, certainly more expressive than the nose. Palate is medium to thin bodied with active carbonation and a brief sweet finish. I really enjoyed the Struise beer that was used in this one, and the blending turned it into a pretty straight forward Fruit Beer. Thanks for sharing this beer with me Eugene, always appreciated.

From fata2683, thanks Keith. Pours with a small head that fades quickly. Color is pretty, cherry juice, too dark to see through. The color makes the lacing seem lighter. Aroma is sweet, slightly tart, cherry. The tartness grows a bit even the slightest acetic quality emerges. But in general once I taste it its all cherry juice to me. Nothing complex, very poppy, but just a soda cherry brew. Doable for what it is. As it really warms up, like an hour later, it losses a lot of the soda pop characteristics. But its still an underwhelming example of any type of sour ale.

Bottled from De Molen shop. Amber/brown colored, small pinkish head. Fruity nose, cherries, marzipan. Initialy sweet flavor, cherries, marzipan, more sour in finish. Personally i don’t really like the notes of marzipan, and it could really use some additional flavors such as oak. Not my kind of Sour Ale.

Bottled at pre-Zythos bash, Alvinne, March 2009. Works very well as a blend. Red colour. Mix of fruit and tart. A little sour kick at the end. Supremely drinkable. Perhaps would have shown even better if not surrounded by so many top notch big beers.

Bottled. Aroma has some slight tartness, cherry aroma. Clear, dark red coloured beer with a slight off-white head. The taste is a little tart, has some sweetness and cherry fruitiness. Bit a light body.

(bottle, thanks Brad!) Pours cloudy red with no head whatsoever. Aromas of tart cherry skin and an underlying earthiness, but that’s about all I got out of it. The taste has an ample amount of tart cherries, with a sweet undertone, which switches out to a bone dry, yeast and vitamin-like finish. Parches the mouth like eating a bunch of daily-Cs. Mouthfeel is thin.

Bottle from De Molen. Ruby red body with slight white head. Nose of cherries and tart. Taste is very tart cherry and then gets a bit sour. Watery. Not much too it, and again not really my style of beer... But kudos for the collaboration and the Magritte nod.

Pours cloudy dark cherry skin red with a few off white bubbles. Slight aroma of cherry and some lactic acid. Flavor is fairly sharp, lots of tart cherries. Medium mouthfeel. Solid tart cherry finish. I’m a little bit disappointed by this offering from Struise.
