Commercial Description:
This Belgian Royal Stout was brewed as a tribute to one of America’s best pubs. Jennifer and Chris Lively who run the place may be proud of Ebenezer’s Pub. Not only do they have 35 beers on draught, most of these are hard to find Supreme Belgian Ales. Above that, they have one of the most extensive bottle-conditioned beer lists through different bottling dates we have ever seen. Not only can you drink almost any Belgian beer, the worlds best brewery’s are represented. A lot of the guests talk about the American Kulminator, yet with that difference that the Belgian inspired food, is simply great. Black Albert was brewed and crafted with a 100% Belgian ingredients. Pours a blacker than black beer with an inch of dark tan head that lingers as it cascades into itself. Nice aroma of bitter-sweet chocolate, fresh torrified coffee beans, barley, candy sugar, complex fruits, and floral hops. At the front, there is spiced baker’s chocolate, fresh mocha, caramel like barley touches, and underlying hints of dried fruits which marries the back of your palate and features a Top, and well integrated but not overbearing hop flavour. The after-taste is well balanced and shows a panorama of extreme sensations like chocolate and coffee bitters, a plum cake richness that covers the palate, and a crisp impression of hop bitters that brings elegance and freshness into this massive brew. Pours an opaque blackout with a very full light brown head. Aroma is of chocolate powder, hoppiness in the background. Not as full an aroma as I had hoped for. Flavor is again very chocolatey, in that chocolate mix kind of way. The hops are detectable, but not too robust. Slightly tarry. Wow, just super-fucking-smooth. Totally classy and understated, this should be a favorite among the Stormaktsporter crowd(s). The 13 percent is barely, yes barely, even detectable in the flavor and finish. I mean, this stuff is as stealth as a black cat in the night. Full palate, not gooey though. I mean, if there is such a thing as a sessionable imperial stout, this is it man. Of course, it would have to be a very slow, calculated, and patient session, considering the ABV, but I could see myself drinking multiples of this in one sitting. Though not my single favorite impy thus far, this one is way up there. Elegant. Overall, world class. Thanks Struise.

Bottle @ PIB... Poured opaque, deep brown -- almost black -- with a tan head. Boozy, liqueur on the nose. Smooth, creamy and foamy palate. Strong coffee with a roasted malt flavor. Oaky flavor with a creamy, slightly alcoholic finish. The quality on this one was insane.

Great appearance, smooth bubbles, smells like coffee,k licorice, caramel. Nice hops, sweet flavour. Very strong aftertaste but smooths out as you drink it. Strong alcohal rateing but it isn’t present in the flavour.

Again, cheers Mes and Sim. Black with a fluffy tasty looking tan head. Starting well this is. Aroma is almost quite mellow, subtle. Alcohol warmly simmering away but perfectly welcome. Smooth long lasting finish, like Andy Cole in his prime. Lots of flavours but to pick one out would be like deciding which one of the team to congratulate on winning the premier league. It’s a joint effort, all as important as the next. Beautiful and a pleasure to drink. Would definitely like more.

Pitch black with a very belgian looking head (lively, fluffy, huge), the aroma is somewhat damped compared to the flavour but still very inviting, roasty, hoppy with a good fruity undertone. Flavour is similar but more. Easy to drink, medium slick, lively and fluffy body. Finishes bitter and roasted with a longlasting aftertaste.
