Commercial Description:
This Belgian Royal Stout was brewed as a tribute to one of America’s best pubs. Jennifer and Chris Lively who run the place may be proud of Ebenezer’s Pub. Not only do they have 35 beers on draught, most of these are hard to find Supreme Belgian Ales. Above that, they have one of the most extensive bottle-conditioned beer lists through different bottling dates we have ever seen. Not only can you drink almost any Belgian beer, the worlds best brewery’s are represented. A lot of the guests talk about the American Kulminator, yet with that difference that the Belgian inspired food, is simply great. Black Albert was brewed and crafted with a 100% Belgian ingredients. Pours a blacker than black beer with an inch of dark tan head that lingers as it cascades into itself. Nice aroma of bitter-sweet chocolate, fresh torrified coffee beans, barley, candy sugar, complex fruits, and floral hops. At the front, there is spiced baker’s chocolate, fresh mocha, caramel like barley touches, and underlying hints of dried fruits which marries the back of your palate and features a Top, and well integrated but not overbearing hop flavour. The after-taste is well balanced and shows a panorama of extreme sensations like chocolate and coffee bitters, a plum cake richness that covers the palate, and a crisp impression of hop bitters that brings elegance and freshness into this massive brew. I never tated a beer like this before in my life. It looks very black and the mousse is very dark brown. Smell is coffee, chocolate and hops. Also honey, caramel and roasted malts. A big beer with 13% Alc. Fantstic taste ! Finale is sweet, bitter, roaste and warming. Wow, what a great beer

33cl gusher, BBE April/2013. Pitch black, huge creamy cappucino head, very tight lace. Looks just beautiful. Very herbal, roasted cocoa aroma, raisins, hint of tar, faint solventy note that luckily fades out quickly. Flavor has raisiny madeira and faint smoke tied together nicely, black coffee, burned malts and natural licorice. Finishes dry and ashy, earhy bitterness and little belgian yeast. More soothing cocoa when warm. Full bodied, full and slightly floury palate. Awesome Impy, actually not as assertive as one could expect from the ABV.

A nicely done beer and although it didn’t quite live up to the hype, it was an above average beer and very enjoyable. The beer pours out a mostly black body, soapy tan head with some large bubbles popping up here and there. The head didn’t have much of a lasting impression. Aroma is light dark chocolate, some roasted malt, candi sugar with some light tartness to it. Body has some of the same character as the aroma with some light leather and tobacco notes too. A really nice sipper and glad to have a chance to share it.

chocolate alcohol and fruit on the nose. dark dark pour with lots of brown head. Burnt notes with a hint of chocolate. NO alcohol taste at all which is surprising. dominated by a sweetness and some date or raisin like notes. very nice on the palate. great mouth feel. delicious.

Pours black and completely opaque with a super thick and persistent head. Aroma is very mellow chocolate, apricots and gingerbread. Flavor is chocolate, persimmons, and gingerbread again. The malt and the yeast work together in perfect harmony here. This is probably the mellowest stout I have ever tasted. Mouthfeel is light as air. Wow. This is damn good.

Reviewed 8/4/2009 (Bottle LOT B6BB): Pours an extremely dark brown colored body, with a huge foamy tan-brown colored head, lastingish. Aroma of dark fruit, dark grape, fig, and floral, somewhat sweet. Not much roasted notes, but the floral is definitely muted by something. Dark fruit taste, immediately followed by roasted and chocolate flavors. Roasted aftertaste. Dark grape. Like a combo Belgian ale and an imperial stout. Tasty.

330mL bottle: appearance is pitch black with pretty dark brown creamy like slow fading head, aroma of roasted malt some coffee some chocolate and also some sweeter notes and very well balanced, flavor is big in roasted malt and coffee flavors and backed with some chocolate. Nicely rounded stout but was expecting more for 10 dollars a bottle.

One of my favourites. This Imperial Stout is really a great and complex beer, but absolutely balanced. The best part of it i think is the Aroma ...
