Commercial Description:
This Belgian Royal Stout was brewed as a tribute to one of America’s best pubs. Jennifer and Chris Lively who run the place may be proud of Ebenezer’s Pub. Not only do they have 35 beers on draught, most of these are hard to find Supreme Belgian Ales. Above that, they have one of the most extensive bottle-conditioned beer lists through different bottling dates we have ever seen. Not only can you drink almost any Belgian beer, the worlds best brewery’s are represented. A lot of the guests talk about the American Kulminator, yet with that difference that the Belgian inspired food, is simply great. Black Albert was brewed and crafted with a 100% Belgian ingredients. Pours a blacker than black beer with an inch of dark tan head that lingers as it cascades into itself. Nice aroma of bitter-sweet chocolate, fresh torrified coffee beans, barley, candy sugar, complex fruits, and floral hops. At the front, there is spiced baker’s chocolate, fresh mocha, caramel like barley touches, and underlying hints of dried fruits which marries the back of your palate and features a Top, and well integrated but not overbearing hop flavour. The after-taste is well balanced and shows a panorama of extreme sensations like chocolate and coffee bitters, a plum cake richness that covers the palate, and a crisp impression of hop bitters that brings elegance and freshness into this massive brew. Dark black coloured beer with a small off-white head. Special creamy roasted and bitter malty aroma. Full palate. Finish is bitter roasted with some coffee malted hints. Strong and light alcoholic ending. Very nice.

Pours a dark black color with a dark tan head. Aromas of dark fruits, alcohol, and roasted malts, and some chocolate. At first I thought this smelled more like a barley wine, but it settled down as it warmed. Flavors are of chocolate, dark fruits and roasted malts. At first the dark fruit and alcohol dominated the flavor, but these flavors settled down as well as it warmed up. This brew has a decent roasted malt aftertaste. This brew was good, but I think it was over-hyped.

Thick, coating in and on the glass. Sticky ring of a head. Super roasted aroma, soft yet powerful. Borderline transcendent. Warmth in my stomach, not my mouth, that’s where all he charcoal and goodness lies.

33cl bottle. Black with a medium tan head and brown edges. Alcohol, burnt sugars and malt, and oxidized coffee grounds that come across somewhat sharp and solvent-like. The flavor is sweet with a bitter and sharply alcoholic finish exhibiting more of the stale coffee of the nose. Full bodied and a bit slick with medium carbonation. This was a real surprise. Nowhere near the malt or yeast depth that I was expecting. I hope that this was an off bottle because I can’t ever see myself wanting this again.

Bottle. Pours black with a tan head. Aroma was dominated by the smell of alcohol, with hints of chocolate and coffee. Taste is has hints of chocolate, coffee and molasses. The alcohol is a bit to present for my enjoyment. Not the best imperial stout I have had.

Bottle. Pours black with a nice creamy tan head that left good lacing. Aroma was roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, alcohol, licorice and some fruitiness. Flavor was complex and well balanced with rich roasted malts, mild coffee, dark fruit, molasses, dark chocolate and has a smooth and creamy body with a roasted dry bitter finish. Alcohol was well hidden

11.2 0z bottle. looks thick and viscous as the black liquid fills my glass. a very short thin tan head fizzles away quickly. the aroma comes across as plums, molasses, fruitcake soaked in coffee liquor. Quite fruity actually with a mildly roasty character. lighter in body than it appears, but still very full. lots of creamy chocolate notes, as well as coffee ice cream. like french silk pie, but with more raisin and fig. a fine and robust bitterness manages to keep this from becoming too sweet. well done.

Very good caramellic aroma. Huge, creamy, light brown head. Excellent lacing. Fully lasting longevity. Black body. Heavy sweet, dark chocolate flavor, with a long finish duration. Medium to full palate.
