Commercial Description:
This Belgian Royal Stout was brewed as a tribute to one of America’s best pubs. Jennifer and Chris Lively who run the place may be proud of Ebenezer’s Pub. Not only do they have 35 beers on draught, most of these are hard to find Supreme Belgian Ales. Above that, they have one of the most extensive bottle-conditioned beer lists through different bottling dates we have ever seen. Not only can you drink almost any Belgian beer, the worlds best brewery’s are represented. A lot of the guests talk about the American Kulminator, yet with that difference that the Belgian inspired food, is simply great. Black Albert was brewed and crafted with a 100% Belgian ingredients. Pours a blacker than black beer with an inch of dark tan head that lingers as it cascades into itself. Nice aroma of bitter-sweet chocolate, fresh torrified coffee beans, barley, candy sugar, complex fruits, and floral hops. At the front, there is spiced baker’s chocolate, fresh mocha, caramel like barley touches, and underlying hints of dried fruits which marries the back of your palate and features a Top, and well integrated but not overbearing hop flavour. The after-taste is well balanced and shows a panorama of extreme sensations like chocolate and coffee bitters, a plum cake richness that covers the palate, and a crisp impression of hop bitters that brings elegance and freshness into this massive brew. Pour from a bottle acquired in Belgium last fall revealed black opaque with a thick tan mocha head. Aromas of coffee and sweet malt. Full bodied and ever so rich and smooth on your palate. Complex flavors of dark chocolate, vanilla, dark fruit, caramel , smokiness, and a hint of biterness. long interesting finish. Great brew.

Pours a medium body with a thin tan head. Aroma of milk chocolate, coffee, dark fruits, cherry, toffee, and caramel. Taste is not as complex as I expected but the flavors do come to life as the beer warms down. Has a dry finish and a slight hint of alcohol. A very solid beer and a great stout. Expected a little more though.

Appearance: Pours a dark brown body with a thinnish, tan-colored head. Smell: Roasty malts with chocolate, strong coffee, as well as distinct notes of dark candi sugar, tobacco, prunes, black currants, and aniseed. Taste: Rich maltiness displayed as candi sugar sweetened chocolate and dark, roasted grains. Concentrated, vinous fruitiness, even a bit of cooked apples. Pinch of English Vacandish as well as pepper and anise. Subtle yeastiness. Exceedingly minor hop flavor and bitterness. Flavor of spiced fruit compote on the drying finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-full body. Medium carbonation. Somewhat chewy mouthfeel. Drinkability: Well, for starters, it was good! The love child of a Belgian Quad and Imperial Stout. The drinkability is suspiciously high for a purported 13% ABV brew. I certainly recommend it if you can manage to procure yourself a bottle or two.

Bottle from Swolf3, huge thanks Steven. Black pour with a little brown head. Slightly oakey aroma, some alcohol as well, almost a whiskey aroma. Favor is much the same, very easy to drink with a little alcohol warmth in the finish. Very good.

Bottle. Pours out a dark black color with a tan head on it. Smell is smokey, with chocolate and coffee infused. Really the smell is dominated by a roasted peat type smell that is not unlike scotch. Taste is full of carbonation and smoke, chocolate, coffee, and a little bit of alcohol. An interesting beer which we tasted side by side with Batch 7000 and Darkness. In my eyes this one could not compare with the other two. Still, this beer is good, worth trying, and unique. Major cool points for the smoke flavor.
