Commercial Description:
This Belgian Royal Stout was brewed as a tribute to one of America’s best pubs. Jennifer and Chris Lively who run the place may be proud of Ebenezer’s Pub. Not only do they have 35 beers on draught, most of these are hard to find Supreme Belgian Ales. Above that, they have one of the most extensive bottle-conditioned beer lists through different bottling dates we have ever seen. Not only can you drink almost any Belgian beer, the worlds best brewery’s are represented. A lot of the guests talk about the American Kulminator, yet with that difference that the Belgian inspired food, is simply great. Black Albert was brewed and crafted with a 100% Belgian ingredients. Pours a blacker than black beer with an inch of dark tan head that lingers as it cascades into itself. Nice aroma of bitter-sweet chocolate, fresh torrified coffee beans, barley, candy sugar, complex fruits, and floral hops. At the front, there is spiced baker’s chocolate, fresh mocha, caramel like barley touches, and underlying hints of dried fruits which marries the back of your palate and features a Top, and well integrated but not overbearing hop flavour. The after-taste is well balanced and shows a panorama of extreme sensations like chocolate and coffee bitters, a plum cake richness that covers the palate, and a crisp impression of hop bitters that brings elegance and freshness into this massive brew. Bottle 330 ml
Appearance: “black and wet” , solid heavy thick pour on dark tanned fine , high density crown.4+
Nose: alcoholic blend of dried plums , molasses , high organic hop , brown sugar , leaf of mint with touch of chocolate. Very complex with good pleasing sensation.
Flavor/Palate : full bodied , thick brown sludge with light slightly acidic roasted feel. Slowly developing but always showing new face with new sip. Fairly mild with coffee chocolate medium. Muted shyly sided alcohol still does its work behind the scenes. Brewmaster did excellent job bonding two opposites: smoothness delicious light feel with rich complexity of bold big stout. Superb sipper.

11.2 oz bottle 10/6/09-Pours a pitch black with a one finger tan head. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, and bacon. Taste of sourness, chocolate, fruits, and sweetness. This full bodied brew hides the ABV extemely well and it is very well balanced and very smooth. GREAT BREW.

Thanks a million to 17thfloor for sharing this with me! Pours a gorgeous black black with a thick huge amazing forever lasting light tan creamy head. Aroma is an amazing blend of dark fruit, raisins, black currant and rummy cake, cherry, burnt caramel, nice bakers chocolate and just a hint of coffee with some candy sugar, holiday latte loving. Flavor is amazing, Just perfection. Chocolate mixed perfectly with dark fruits, alcohol, caramelized sugar, licorice, earthy hops , black cherries. Everything blended to a perfect mesh, from start to finish, bitter dark chocolate finish coats the throat and lingers for a good long time, just waiting for accompaniment be means of the next swallow. Full, rich and sticky body with a soft caressing carbonation. Definitely the perfect blend of all brewing ingredients. Note, 17thfloor makes a great point, roasted marshmallows with fire char that gives the unique burnt sugar character. mmmm mmm good!

Oily black pour with a thick tight tan head. Aroma is roast, honey, dark fruit, cherries, dark chocolate this smelled amazing. Flavor was equally complex, thick mouthfeel kind of coated your tongue and bathed it in rich chocolate, plums, cherries, toffee, coffee goodness. Very complex, chewy, but not even slightly overbearing beer. This was fantastic.

(bottle) pours a pitch black colour with a bubbly brown head. aroma of dark chocolate and caramel, brown sugar, coffee and fudge, toasted malts, cherries and just a hint of alcohol, nicely balanced. flavour is mostly strong toasted grainy malts, coffee and yeast, with hints of sweet spices and some rather fitting notes of alcohol. the initial mouth-coating sweetness quickly gives way to a long warming roasted-bitter finish. medium to strong-bodied with mellow carbonation, a massively complex beer.

Rating #1000. Purchased at Whole Foods a few months back. Pours darkest brown/black with a huge tan head. Nose is brandy first, then fruit (fig and black cherry), chocolate and roasted malt. Dark fruit flavor up front with some alcohol and a roasty chocolate finish. Aftertaste is coffee and plum. Nice complex brew, but the flavor doesn’t quite stack up to the aroma. Still very good though.

Bottle, 33cl. A dark-brwon to black beer with a medium beige head that disappears in the end. Aroma is one of dried fruits, coffee, caramel, light sweet and malty. The taste is extensive and tremendous: you taste everything. It first starts as a stout with a caramel and coffee taste, than comes a chocolate taste before dried fruits and some candy sugar come to the front. And when you think the beer finishes malty, there even comes a light bitter aftertaste on the beer. Some people say Westvleteren is the best beer of the world, I say this one certainly isn’t worse, even harder to find than the Westvleteren. First class top beer!

Viscous black, with a creamy brown head and big lacing. Aroma is sweet, with chocolate, red grapes, and a bit of ginger. Taste is the same; very sweet, with prominent cocoa, and the light winey sourness of grape skins. Alcohol is very well hidden, but manifests itself in an astringent aftertaste. Quite nice, but not up to the hype. $11.50/11oz
