Commercial Description:
This Belgian Royal Stout was brewed as a tribute to one of America’s best pubs. Jennifer and Chris Lively who run the place may be proud of Ebenezer’s Pub. Not only do they have 35 beers on draught, most of these are hard to find Supreme Belgian Ales. Above that, they have one of the most extensive bottle-conditioned beer lists through different bottling dates we have ever seen. Not only can you drink almost any Belgian beer, the worlds best brewery’s are represented. A lot of the guests talk about the American Kulminator, yet with that difference that the Belgian inspired food, is simply great. Black Albert was brewed and crafted with a 100% Belgian ingredients. Pours a blacker than black beer with an inch of dark tan head that lingers as it cascades into itself. Nice aroma of bitter-sweet chocolate, fresh torrified coffee beans, barley, candy sugar, complex fruits, and floral hops. At the front, there is spiced baker’s chocolate, fresh mocha, caramel like barley touches, and underlying hints of dried fruits which marries the back of your palate and features a Top, and well integrated but not overbearing hop flavour. The after-taste is well balanced and shows a panorama of extreme sensations like chocolate and coffee bitters, a plum cake richness that covers the palate, and a crisp impression of hop bitters that brings elegance and freshness into this massive brew. Yes, it’s black with a beautiful fluffy tan head and a coffee aroma. The flavor has lots of chocolate, coffee and toffee, with an excellent alcohol trail. The hopping is nicely done, especially for a stout, leaving a pleasant bitterness on the palate. This is a great brew.

Black of color with a longlasting brown head. An aroma of roasted malt, coffee and sweet liqurice. A flavor of chocolate, roasted malt, alcohol, coffee and a dry finish.

Bottle. Mega thanks to MrChopin for this one. Tangy fruit aroma and flavor. Tobacco and a bit of sourness to balance the roasted malt flavors. Different RIS and very nice.

With all the hype and the price, I did not expect to enjoy this as much as I did. Near black pour with big fluffy pinkish-tan head. Herbs, tobacco, a tinge of soy, cocoa, coffee, and roasted barley on the nose, and added cinnamon on the tongue as well as dark stewed fruits. Prunes? Neither overly boozy nor thick given the ABV. Tasty.

Big thanks to pilsnerpeter for sharing this one with me. Dark black beer and a thin amber head. Aroma is lightly herbal and salty. A bit of herbal/tobacco character. Flavour is pretty nice. Soft and cocoaish, toast but also a lot of harsh band-aidy flavour as well. Musty and lightly irony. Meh... this beer is intense and has a lot of stuff going on, but it just doesn’t work all that well. Yeast, phenolic and kind of nasty. I’d like to try it again, but I think this emperor has no clothes.

Bottle thanks to Cletus. Pours a reddish black hue with a tan collar. Aromas of chocolate, some coffee, some dark fruit, and I swear I got pepper on this. Flavors of bitter chocolate, coffee, dark fruits, and again some pepper. Palate was thin and boring, very low depth. I definitely want to try this again, as I really dont see what all the fuss is about, perhaps I missed something.

From cletus. Another great beer. Black pour. Aroma of roasted chocolate, coffee, and toffee. Flavor is roatsted and toasty with great chocolate notes. Very full flavor with notes of booze, molasses and dark dried fruits. winner.

the joy of the backlog. i tried this on two occasions here goes: doesn(fuckingapostrophe)t smell good. i thought sour, lumpy summed it up well- smells like industrial strength cleaner- tastes a lot like windex, roasted windex with a bit of paint 3 2 2 1 8 2nd time: think i have this in my notes already, pitch black w/a dark brown ring. smells like pepper and alcohol-rubbing alcohol. red pepper roasted barley and yeast does not a good beer make. 5 2 3 2 8
