Commercial Description:
Black Albert was used in a new barrel aging project. More than a year ago, Carlo was able to get his hands on a stock of Four Roses Bourbon barrels, and we happily filled them up with Batch „0". This unique creation was originally to be named 4 Black Roses in honour of its heritage, but our friends in Kentucky strongly advised us not to do so! What to do? As the disowned offspring of Black Albert, the name Cuvée Delphine imposed itself. Savouring the Belgian irony, we are most honoured to have artwork by Delphine Boël shining on this label. You will not find this ale all over the globe. There is no export program, but we will try to provide stock through our web shop and some specialty beer pubs.

Bottled at Monks Cafe Wallingatan. Apperance: Very dark brownish with a huge dark brown head. Looks very smooth. Aroma: Cream, Hint of bourbon, Roasted malt and Coffee. Nose is not very impressive. Taste: Smooth and creamy but without that sweetness i had expected from the bourbon-barrel-aging. Nice touch of chocolate and some bitterness at the end. Palate: Very complex but quite rewarding. This beer was very hard to rate for me as it was totally different from what i expected. A good beer but there are better barrel-aged stouts out there.

Bottle at Monks Wallingatan, Stockholm. Pours black with a small brown head. It has a thick sweet aroma like cream, some bourbon and rosted malt. Tastes of chocolate, cream and vanilla. Could have passed as a milk/sweet stout, very smooth.

Bottle. L: Black. Small but long lasting brown head. S: Creamy with a perfect touch of bourbon. Mmm...milk. T: Sweet aged character, vanilla/cream, small small bitterness in the aftertaste. Overall: Thick and smooth beer. More elegant than powerfull stout. Somewhat vinous with its aged character.

Bottle@Home. Medium strong aroma with mainly licorice, chocolate and whisky. Very black, brown head, good lace. Very sweet, very bitter, chocolate, coffee, whisky of course. Thick, soft, warming. Powerful stuff, flavourful, bit too sweet IMO but overall great.

Handbottle thanks to xnoxhatex for this rarity. Pours a brown black with a thin beige head. Nose is similar to black albert, but more. Roasted chocolate malts, with red fruit and belgian yeast. Roasted chocolate flavors, fruit, bourbon, and a drying sweetness. The barrel’s presence is light , but it works. Light carbonation with a dry woody finish. Good beer.

handbottle with a big thanks to xnoxhatex for busting this one out or to andrew for grabbing these from his stash!... dark almost black pour with a soapy light tan head...aroma of black albert at its core, strong belgiany stout with sweet vanilla and bourbon scents. licorice too...belgian yeast and chocolate with a bitter finish. somewhat warm but booziness eventually fades. roasty in the finish. lighty carbonated. enjoyed just slightly more than the black albert i’ve had in the states.

Deep black, brown head. Complex aroma of smoke, fruits, malts. Moderately bitter, heavily sweet flavour. Very complex and well balanced. Quite heavily bodied.
