Commercial Description:
Black Albert was used in a new barrel aging project. More than a year ago, Carlo was able to get his hands on a stock of Four Roses Bourbon barrels, and we happily filled them up with Batch „0". This unique creation was originally to be named 4 Black Roses in honour of its heritage, but our friends in Kentucky strongly advised us not to do so! What to do? As the disowned offspring of Black Albert, the name Cuvée Delphine imposed itself. Savouring the Belgian irony, we are most honoured to have artwork by Delphine Boël shining on this label. You will not find this ale all over the globe. There is no export program, but we will try to provide stock through our web shop and some specialty beer pubs.

Intens black in colour with fluffy fine brown head on top. Aroma is fantastc, its lots of coffee, chocolate, rich malts, honey, bourbon and carameized and roasted barley. Taste is super soft and incredible in balans. Aftertaste is smooth, rich, lots of soft black mocha and dark Berlgian chocolats going on in here. It end with a nice bite of refreshinh hops. What a fantastic beer

Bottled at 1st Borefts Beer Festival, Bodegraven. Opaque black appearance. Roasted malts and fruit in aroma, vanilla. Flavour has obvious sour notes, fruit, roasted malts, bourbon, very complex, yet smooth. I’m not a big fan of Black Albert, but this one is really nice.

bottle. impenetrable black body with a large-bubbled, fast-growing brown head, lasting retention but it’s 4 inches of foam on top of an inch of beer. need to figure out the bottle conditioning, fellas. nose is cream, mint chocolate ice cream, bit of spearmint and butter yeast, strange. settles out with more chocolate malt and roast when oxidized and warmed but it’s still tough to get over. thick up front but quickly fizzles and evaporates on the palate. sand, stale toast crumbs, mild chocolate and cream... infection or cap taint is picked up, mild influence on the flavor but the body is killed... that or the bottle conditioning is just out of control and messy. boozy aftertaste, belgian yeast is evident, but overall it suffers from poor conditioning.

Bottled at Borefts Bier Festival. Black colour, beige head. Aroma is sweet, whisky, roasted malts, chocolate, some weird fruity notes. Flavour is sweet, roasted malts and coffee, bitter chocolate, whisky. Nice bitter finish. Medium to fullbodied. A bit too much bourbon for me.

Super dark black thick pour. Extreme legs on this. Aroma is huge. Some faint smoke, molasses, bourbon, wood, vanilla and roasted nuts. Flavor has more bourbon, vanilla, burnt toast, dark bittersweet chocolate and molasses. Very big.

25cL bottle. Pours very deep brown, topped with a thin tan head. Aroma is a bit more subtle than expected, with notes of dark chocolate, coffee, vanilla, oak, and bourbon. Flavor begins with milk chocolate, vanilla, charcoal, and bourbon. Medium bodied, with velvety smooth mouthfeel. Milk chocolate and ash linger on the palate, with alcohol becoming more evident several seconds after the swallow. This really grew on me as I got further into the bottle; I wish it were larger than 25cL!!

Black with a dense beige head. Aroma is somewhat acidic, oaky, slightly roasted with notes of berries. Flavour is vanilla, caramell, acidic roasted berry stuff with a lovely longlasting bittersweet finish.

Thanks Jason. Murky dark brown color with a hint of ruby when held to the light. SMall tight lid of tan bubbles. LIght oak and currant scents. Very light aromas in general. A little molasses as it warms. Flavors start sweeter with light oak and stewed dates with brown sugar. Very little alcohol noted. Hints of chocolate and roasted nibs in the finish and into the linger. A nice end of the night type brew.
