Jul 30, 2009 Bottle shared by Phil, pours a bit thinnish deep brown with no head. Nose is subtle with chocolate, roasted malt and bourbon. Flavor is as the nose. Everything about this beer is done in subtlety. A bit thin on the palate. I prefer the original.

Jul 27, 2009 (Bottle, 0.33 l, at Monk’s Wallingatan, Stockholm, on 2009-07-27) Black. Tan coloured and medium sized head. Wood and roastedness in aroma. Full bodied, soft and dry palate with little carbonation. Roastedness, ash, wine like flavours, whisky and malts in taste. Ashy aftertaste.

Jul 23, 2009 Bottle from Cracked Kettle. Pours black with tan head. Roasted aromas with alkohol fruit red wine. Strong alcohol yet sweet roasted amlt coffe chocolate.

Jul 20, 2009 Once again, huge thank you to my brother and beer guru Mes. Stunning wedding present mate (and there was much more believe me). Black with a large tan head. Alcohol is noticeable but in all the right places and tastes mellower than some less epic beers. In addition to the usual impy stout flavours there is a the bourbon undertone in the background. Only slight though. Definitely some sort of cake the chubbier amonogst us can identify with. Truly wonderful.

Jul 20, 2009 Small bottle thanks to bu11zeye. Pours with a large, creamy tan head over a black body. Aroma is a bit vinous, with alcohol, cinnamon, beef jerky and bourbon. Taste is smoked, chocolate, scotch, wood, nuts and light vinous. Silky mouthfeel and light bubbles.

Mes - I know you said I should drink this one all my own, but I just had to share it - Paul & Al say thank you very, very much!!! Pours thick, deep ruby, large thick lasting tan foamy-creamy head. Tart roast aroma, dry oak, coffee, vanilla, burnt sugars - nice! Taste - mmmmmm - coffee, sour cherry, anise, spice, merlot - slightly boozy, not bad for 13^ - balanced and lovely. Acidic, roasty balanced body, very lively mouthfeel - has an almost sour aftertaste. Wow, really interesting.

Jul 15, 2009 With great thanks to HogTownHarry for sharing this with Blankboy and I. Appearance: Oily black with a small but lasting pancake mix head. Aroma: Christmas pudding, vanilla, brown sugar, hops, nice sourness too, chocolate with lots of wood and bourbon. NICE. Flavour: Wood, bourbon, cream, hops, like licking a well worn leather jacket. It’s so so slick, lots of bourbon notes however the alcohol is well hidden. Blackcurrants and tobacco. Just superb.

Jul 14, 2009 Courtesy of beastiefan2k (I believe). Poured very dark brown, almost opaque. Aroma was mostly of brown sugar, dark roasted malts. Flavor also came with the dark malts, chocolate, but also some nice sweet cherries, fruit. Medium mouthfeel, not too thick. Overall, very good to excellent.
