Commercial Description:
Black Albert was used in a new barrel aging project. More than a year ago, Carlo was able to get his hands on a stock of Four Roses Bourbon barrels, and we happily filled them up with Batch „0". This unique creation was originally to be named 4 Black Roses in honour of its heritage, but our friends in Kentucky strongly advised us not to do so! What to do? As the disowned offspring of Black Albert, the name Cuvée Delphine imposed itself. Savouring the Belgian irony, we are most honoured to have artwork by Delphine Boël shining on this label. You will not find this ale all over the globe. There is no export program, but we will try to provide stock through our web shop and some specialty beer pubs.

25cl bottle @ De Molen Shop. Pours pitch black with a creamy brown head and lacings. Nose is brett and roast. Smooth and vinous mouthfeel. Coffee, chocolate, vanilla, oak with a bit of warmth. Where is the 14% ?? Very nice.

Bottled 25cl. Courtesy of Daniele. It pours a pitch black beer with a deep beige head. Mint, ginger, quinces, mocha coffee, candied apricots and wild strawberries showing in the nose. Extremely complex taste. Full bodied. Beautiful lacework. Slightly sour with a lot of mocha coffee and oak appearing. The finish is dominated by ginger.

Poured a deep brown color with a tan head. Roasted malt aroma with decent chocolate notes. The flavor was of roasted malt and some sweetness. Medium bodied with nice warmth.

Spicy yeasty roasty and vinous smell, some chocolate there too, quite vinous. The bourbon barrel aging is subtle and makes the beer softer. This is quite a bit better than the normal albert, the roasty fruity taste works so much better with the barrel aging, this was a beer that needed some taming. The hops are very present in the end and that is something I really like. Brilliant beer from struise.

(Bottle, Monk’s Cafe, Stockholm) Black colour with firm, creamy, pale brown head. Malty, roasted nose with coffee, liquorice and rather subtle hints of bourbon, oak and vanilla. Roasted, malty taste with notes of coffee, cocoa, dried fruit, raisins, prunes and powerful flavours of bourbon and oak turning into loads of liquorice in a long finish. Full body with intense and not so subtle flavours. Fairly sweet. Excellent and powerful beer.

Shared by Tertons and Rciesla. Nothing exciting going on here. Nothing really stands out. Easy to drink for 13%. Well attenuated. Just an average imperial stout.
