| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | May 28, 2009 Spicy yeasty roasty and vinous smell, some chocolate there too, quite vinous. The bourbon barrel aging is subtle and makes the beer softer. This is quite a bit better than the normal albert, the roasty fruity taste works so much better with the barrel aging, this was a beer that needed some taming. The hops are very present in the end and that is something I really like. Brilliant beer from struise. Svesse (2685), Hässelby, Sweden
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | May 26, 2009 (Bottle, Monk’s Cafe, Stockholm) Black colour with firm, creamy, pale brown head. Malty, roasted nose with coffee, liquorice and rather subtle hints of bourbon, oak and vanilla. Roasted, malty taste with notes of coffee, cocoa, dried fruit, raisins, prunes and powerful flavours of bourbon and oak turning into loads of liquorice in a long finish. Full body with intense and not so subtle flavours. Fairly sweet. Excellent and powerful beer. BrianK (190), Livingston, New Jersey, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 26, 2009 Shared by Tertons and Rciesla. Nothing exciting going on here. Nothing really stands out. Easy to drink for 13%. Well attenuated. Just an average imperial stout. Rciesla (3883), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 25, 2009 Two bottles. Pours a dark brune body with a tan head. Lactose, soy, hints of wood and bourbon. Some roast y chocolate bitter notes and a big etoh finish with a licorice like character. Decent. Tweety (344), Vancouver, Washington, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 21, 2009 Unlike any other bourbon-aged beer I’ve ever had, really. The balance was really good, but the flavor was much thinner than expected. I had really high hopes, and was honestly a little let down. mreusch (746), Olathe, Kansas, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 10, 2009 25cl bottle, with a huge thanks to stowehop! Pours a dark brown/black with a large and lasting creamy tan head. Aroma is overripe dark fruits, espresso, milk chocolate, oak, vanilla, and a faint bourbon that gets quite a bit stronger as it warms. The flavor is primarily bittersweet chocolate and espresso, but there is more dark fruits, along with a hint of bourbon, oak and vanilla, but very much in the background. Again as it warms these flavors blend together much better. This is a fine beer, but definitely did not live up to my expectations. Thanks again for the chance to try Dan! wetherel (1641), Encinitas, California, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | May 9, 2009 Small bottle from John, at Lost Abbey’s 3rd anniversary party. Amber color. I find it similar to pannepot. Good, but the barrel aging in the form of buttery sweetness doesn’t shine through as I expected. Similar conclusion around the table. Very nice though. 3.9-4.0.
