Struise-Mikkeller is as we said in the past "Best of two worlds". We delivered an IPA with 130 IBU, but a bitterness hidden the Struise way, counter balanced by maltyness, alcohol and rest sugars. People who do not like Ipa’s will actually be amazed, the general hop bomb addict will not understand, so yes this is a controverse brew... enjoy anyway!

Bottle at Monk’s. Orangey copper colour with a big healthy white head. Nose is full of light fruit, some sweetness, hoppy freshness. Mouth is fruity, some citrus here, some earthiness, maybe some damp wood. Bitter finish is robust and helps quench on the way down. Great beer.

A dark-orange, slightly reddish pour with huge fluffy white head. Very fruity aroma of oranges, grapefruit, candy and herbal hops. Taste is citrus fruit, grassy, some very nice hops bitterness balanced by a light malt sweetness. Extremely well balanced, alcohol completely hidden, slightly spicy mouthfeel. Aftertaste is dominated by the delicious hops. It’s like a very good tripel with some extra hops added for even more flavour and complexity. Easy to drink and delicious. I wish this were a regular staple at Struise and easier to get!

Bottle. Rusty color with a white head. Aroma is hoppy with notes of fruit. For me, the flavor lacks a little hoppiness, but there are nice undertones of sweetness and fruitiness. Overall its quite enjoyable.

A very nice fruitiness in the nose along with some caramel and cookie dough. Murky red color with a one fingered head, active carbonation, and lots of particles that sink to the bottom. The flavor is brown sugar/caramel, rich malt, woodsy and earthy hops, and light spices. The bitterness is evident at first and in the finish and although it is strong, it is never unbalanced. Thick bodied with a cleansing bitterness at the finish. Interesting, but I would guess past it’s prime.

Bottle, courtesy of Hogtown Harry. Dark hazy rust colour, huge foamy white head, a few floating chunks in there as well - looks great. Nice aroma - musty, citrus hops, sugar. Taste - wow, that is interesting. Bitter, citrus, fruity, grainy, maybe even a burnt note or two and some sourness. A really nice original brew with a very long linger. Really interesting, complex and enjoyable - I really liked this take on a double IPA.

Poured amber with a white head. Aroma of lemon, apples, and pine. Lots of fruit in this guy. Mostly citrus with some duller fruit in the finish. Crisp.

bottle. Pours amber in color with a large white head that left great lacing on the glass. Aroma is sweet with caramel, nice hop presence, and light citrus. Tastes of grassy, earthy hops, light caramel and citrus. Not quite the IIPA I was expecting.
