Struise-Mikkeller is as we said in the past "Best of two worlds". We delivered an IPA with 130 IBU, but a bitterness hidden the Struise way, counter balanced by maltyness, alcohol and rest sugars. People who do not like Ipa’s will actually be amazed, the general hop bomb addict will not understand, so yes this is a controverse brew... enjoy anyway!

11.2 oz bottle. Fantastic pour with one inch of milk cream head, pretty good lacing, very opaque, with some large particulate, and Mandarin orange in color. The notes i get on the nose are olives, exotic spice, minor yeast, candy corn, mild fruits, and some grapefruit kiwi citrus... golly. This beer really tastes and is overall just far different than any ipa i have ever tried as i noted different things on every sip as they came to mind... tropical fruit punch, incredibly well balanced as advertised without an overpowering hop presence that is quite a nice change of pace from everything i seem to have been drinking lately, olives as well, semi sugary feel throughout that gives off this lighter body for a iipa, lingers nicely, and a subtly spicy, zesty hop profile. Wow, a great, unique, sometimes a little weird, very enjoyable experience that makes me rethink the possibilities of just what an india pale ale can be.

Cloudy amber, yellow colored brew. Fruity, hoppy aroma. Flavor is fruity, malty, some sweetness, some hoppiness. It’s not a hopbomb indeed, more mild hoppy flavor. It’s not that it isn’t tasty, but it could use a bit more hoppiness I think to really stand out.

Bottle@Home. Fruity, light floral aroma, mainly apple and pear. Light amber color, off-white head, good lace. Sweet, fruity start (orange), bitter grassy finish. More like a Double Saison than a Double IPA. Disappointing actually for both Struise and Mikkeller.

I was lucky to be one of the first people to get my hands on a crate of this recently young batch of IPA. Struise brewer Urbain told me that the beer is very fresh and meight be a bit young on the pallet. The nose is very grassy and noble hoppy, it is nutty in the aroma and has a dry hint of pine needles, flowers, malts and citrussy hops. The attack is smooth, silky, bread-like and very nutty, it has a crispy-dry twang and a fantastic hoppy bitterness. The rich hoppyness is keeping me awake, it punches you in the face with an invisible silk glove, Woooa, I could not believe that such bitterness could be so tastefull and delicious, I think I gonna drink another one right now !

A murky dark amber ale with a thick lacing off white head. A very doughy aroma, with coriander, light Brett, light vanilla, strange cavey aroma. In mouth, an intense hops meet a strong coriander triple, nice little sweet sugar residuals. Interesting...it gros on me. Bieropholie import.

Bottle. Cloudy yellowy brown beer with a strong head. The aroma is malty and roasted and the flavour is strongly malty. Overall a nice beer.

Bottle. Moderate malt aromas of roasted and caramel, heavy smells of flowers and herbs and a slight hint of resin for the hops, moderate dough for the yeast and background notes of wine, alcohol and fruitcake. Head is huge, rocky, off- white with excellent lacing and is fully lasting. Color is murky light brown, with thick amounts of large sinking chunks. Flavor starts moderately sweet and acidic, then finishes moderately sweet and lightly bitter. Palate is medium, between oily and creamy and has a lively carbonation. A creative mix of aromas, but nothing too extreme. A bit heavy on the wallet.
