Struise-Mikkeller is as we said in the past "Best of two worlds". We delivered an IPA with 130 IBU, but a bitterness hidden the Struise way, counter balanced by maltyness, alcohol and rest sugars. People who do not like Ipa’s will actually be amazed, the general hop bomb addict will not understand, so yes this is a controverse brew... enjoy anyway!

330ml bottle, slight cloudy amber hue, with a super white head, yeasty, spicy, toasty, caramelized malt nose, with a fruity accent of date and fig, with a hint of maple syrup probably, from the candi sugar, within a warmth aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a sweet toasted malt, spicy character of nutmeg, with a fruity note of ripe apples, a toffeeish accent, a flowery hop mintiness and spiciness, leading towards a malty, warming , hop bitterness finish.

11.2 oz. bottle. Pours a murky brown with a moderate linen white head that lasted through the entire beer and left partial lace. Not much going on in the aroma department despite sticking my nose all the way down inside my snifter. A few whisps of yeast and sour fruit are barely noticeable. The flavor is yeasty with some sour fruit and alcohol. The alcohol becomes more pronounced as the beer warms. Effervescent and fizzy on the palate, especially early on. Finish is acidic and dry. This beer just never came together for me.

Getting Notebook Online. Bottle. An interesting beer, hop flavors are different then I am use to her in America. Very bitter and sweet grapefruit flavors. Overall pretty solid.

Bright dark orange colored beer with a large frothy, long lasting head that could only come from Belgium. Nose shows traces of fruity hops (peach, nectarine.) It’s a sweet, sugary beer with a slightly diminished, but bold hop presence. Notes of peach, with a touch of lemon. Out of balance and a bit to sweet for me.

Pour is gorgeous orange copper with a thick, creamy off white head. Aroma is extremely well balanced of hops, citrus, spices and malt. Flavor not as good as I was hoping after the appearance and aroma blew me away. Flavor is a yeasty, malty, alcoholic taste that’s just so-so. Palate is also just so-so. Its kinda rough and astringent, the finish is dry and bitter but metallic like also. So when Struise says "the general hop bomb addict will not understand", its not that I don’t understand, its just that its not good enough. Perfect start, bad bad ending....

Bottle. Rich amber beer with a big cream colored head. Slightly soapy/hoppy aroma with yeast and light spice. Grapefruit hop flavor with Belgian yeast, light spice, and caramel. Medium-plus bodied. Spice, grapefruit linger with caramel and yeast.
