Struise-Mikkeller is as we said in the past "Best of two worlds". We delivered an IPA with 130 IBU, but a bitterness hidden the Struise way, counter balanced by maltyness, alcohol and rest sugars. People who do not like Ipa’s will actually be amazed, the general hop bomb addict will not understand, so yes this is a controverse brew... enjoy anyway!

Hazy orange amber body with a lasting off-white head. Perfumy, strong malt/hop aroma. Very Nice. Nice hop bitterness that’s supported by a firm malt base. Nice drying finish.

Bottle shared by Jason. Cloudy orange body under a small tan head. The aroma gives candy sugar, a touch of malt, and some bitter hops. Flavor-wise it adds a pleasant rounded malt profile alongside some pretty crazy bitterness. The high level of bitterness doesn’t do a lot for me but the malt profile in this thing is fantastic.

Bottle at home 12-08-08 purchased from Cave Direct Beer Merchants (Mixed case of Mikkeller Beer) Pours hzy mid amber with a white head that is flecked sporadically with yeast. Wonderful hoppy bite that is immediately softened and tempered with a nice sweetness. There are definate and obvious infuences from both Struise and Mikkeller but I know I’m going agaisnt the grain but I don’t think they combine as well as I would hope, in saying that this is still a very good beer.

11.2 oz bottle served in a Duvel tulip. Hazy peach body toped by tightly packed off-white head. Smells of toffee, citrus, and mango. Initial sip is very bitter developing into a burst of fruity esters. Caramel, lemon juice, peach, and alcohol flavors are all present. Sweet but not cloying, producing a chewy, satisfying mouthfeel. Excellent head retention as well. Amazing stuff.

Thanks to Nate! Clear light amber with a giant off white head. Super piny, floral hop aroma with a distinct musty note, some mineral, and a hint of caramel malt. I really don’t like the way this one tastes. The hops are too bitter, and they don’t utilize the othe wonderful hop notes. The yeast is too fruity, and while it keeps balance, it doesn’t mix with the hops. Not for me.

Hazy amber pour - looks like honey. Thick fluffy white head. Lemony sour citrus aroma. Sweet and peppery as well. Woody with some other spices. Candy-like sweetness which is overpowering at first. Lots fruit takes over - apple and lemon with coriander and other spice. A slightly sour bitter end with some alcohol flavor. Very complex

From bottle. Fragrant piney hops abound in the nose. Herbal and luscious, with sweet sugary undertones and some tea. Fairly simple aroma. Golden dark amber, hazy with chunks of dregs. Topped with off-white foamy lacing head. Heavy watery body with medium carbonation. Alcoholic warming. Starts with candi sugar sweetness and light citrus bitter. Tons of hop spicyness and herbal notes. Orange peel? Sweet and bitter and well balanced, but not all is harmonious. Could use a little age on this.

Aroma: wonderful. Powerful fruity hops, apple peel, honey, vaguely of pine, caramel malt, grapefruit, wheat? Somehow dirty. Fusel alcohols?
Comes off about as expected.
Flavour: bittersweet. Surprisingly roasted. Less sourish than I expected from the scent. Yet w/ a very nice, almost lactic, sourishness. Grapefruit bitter hops. Fruity, very yeasty, dry aftertaste.
Palate: fizzy, creamy, thick, yeasty. Quite slimy.
Appearance: murky light orange with yellow tint. White, fine, irregular head. Leaving classy lacing...
