Jul 29, 2008 Tasted 26/07/2008. 330ml bottle from Henrik, shared with Sam and Steve in Invercargill. Hazy orange-gold. Muddled hop and spicy yeast on the nose and in the mouth too much funk and not enough bitterness to kick in the dink me. I’ve brewed something just like this before, and I wouldn’t brew it again.

Jul 28, 2008 11.2oz bottle from Bruisin Ales, brought to me by Turdferguson - thanks, Sam! My first thought upon getting a sniff of this beer - which looks just lovely, with a glowing amber pour, some nice delicate carbonation and sediment, and a creamy head - was that it’s one thing to say (as many of us do in our reviews of DIPAs) that there’s some citrus, but damn Jim, this beer fucking MEANS it! I mean there is some serious red grapefruit and tangerine coming together in the nose, quirked up by some nicely funky yeast (strongly recalling the aroma of Signature Ale to me, a fine thing). Crisp carbonation gives it real heft, but also makes the finish dry and lasting. Sweet and malty as you let it linger on the palate, complex and full. A very interesting beer, that seems like it wants to smash through the boundaries of its style. Nice!

Jul 28, 2008 12 oz. bottle - purchased from Belmont Station; long wanted to try this one and it pretty much loved up to expectations; huge white head settles over a few minutes; lacing all around; thick and hazy orange with rich aromas of spicy hops and grainy citrus; more the spice than straight bitter hops; flavor is light at first and bitterness well hidden by malts and spice; kick as texture and body; just a delight and only lacking that big bitter finish; instead yeast is obvious and it ends up on the sweet side; very nice

Jul 28, 2008 Bottle - Hazy pale orange pour with white head and some lacing. Aroma of grains and earthy malts with citrus notes and bitter hops. Spiced and sweet grassy tones with a dry hop finish. Alc. was present and it was mixed pretty well, Ok.

Jul 26, 2008 Stored at 50F for the three months I had this beer. This beer is actually underrated IMO. Pours a cloudy amber with large white head. Aroma is intense hops, citrus, and grapefruit. Flavor was excellent, a standout among DIPAs, it was a little sweet but mostly bitter citrus hops that blends nicely with the malt profile. This 130 IBU beer is great, some of the people who rated this too sweet might’ve let it sit too long. This beer is up there with dreadnaught hopslam, and YuleSmith (I know that must be blasphemy to some) This is a step above Ruinition IPA and 90 minute.

Jul 26, 2008 Pours a murky orange with white head. Very sweet with caramel, candy sugar, orange peel, malt, earthiness, grapefruit, and bitter hops, but the bitterness is very muted by the large amount of sweet malt. Complex and spiced, yet not to the style (at least it is very different then the american style).

Jul 22, 2008 Nice amber orange pour with a 2 finger white head that keeps up nicely and leaves some good lacing.
Candied orange sweetness in the aroma with some sharp hops trying to fight their way through. Kind of an odd combo, but interesting.
This candied orange sweetness comes through in the taste as well with an interesting ginger sort of spiciness. Lots of sweetness, only barely mellowed by some sharp but muted hops. Citrus. Alcohol presence at the end, finished by a light bitterness.
Mouthfeel is rather rich (and slightly cloying) with a decent finish and medium carbonation.
Overall, interesting, but conflicting. The flavors never seem to come together, but rather seem to like picking fights amongst themselves. Still, a rather interesting beer to try, and one that borders on being quite good.

Jul 21, 2008 sampled with the phoenix crew. bottle provided by psprings... pours a hazy orange/copper with a white head and tons of spotty lacing. aroma is floral yeasty, dry twiggy/wood, spicy earthy hops, lots of grainy sweetness and fruit... maybe orange. the palate is a bit sweet and certainly covers up a lot of the character. my usual ’130 ibu, what’s the point?’... sweet graininess, pine needles, grass, citrus, floral yeast and wood. it finishes with a light bite from the hops as the alcohol vapors come out a bit. medium body. smooth. meh.
