Before actually drinking, I notice how ridiculously creamy this beer looks, and it does not disappoint. Very thick. It feels like whole milk. Green tea hop, which as BDR pointed out, could be a bit of fresh hops. A little apricot. Not a "holy hops, Batman" beer, but very nice. merlin48 (516), New Tazewell, Tennessee, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 1, 2008 11.2 oz bottle pours into a tulip a hazy apricot amber with a sturdy ecru head. Good retention and some curtains of sheet lace on the glass. Complex aroma has fruity citrus, subtle spices, yeasty funk, malty molasses and raisins. Nice! Taste mirrors the aroma with an addition of Belgian candy sugars to tame the citrusy hop bitterness. Some Belgian funk from the yeast adds complexity. Lots of orange and pink grapefruit notes. Spices are subtle but add a nice touch even if hard to identify. A different take on the Belgian IPA that really hits the mark. awaisanen (1279), Irvine, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Apr 30, 2008 From a 330mL Bottle. Pours a murky amber color with a thick head of pillowy white. Hoppy aromas with both citrus and herbal notes. Perfumey yeast notes, mild toffee malt, and some turbinado sugar sweetness. Hints of pear and fermented pineapple. Medium light bodied, crisply carbonated mouthfeel with a dry, refreshing finish. Citrus and almost garlicy hop flavors up front on the palate, followed by notes of raw sugar, dusty yeast, and caramel malt. Some fruity and spicy yeast characters come through on the backend, along with more golden belgian sugar flavors. The hop flavors are assertive, but not bitter enough to hide the belgian flavors, which suggests excellent execution of the concept. Enjoyable, but the flavors never seem to combine to create anything glorious, making it a tad busy. BDR (2162), Roseville, Minnesota, USA

Nice aroma with some nice green tea and faint citrus peel. Thick creamy body with massive green tea flavor, yeast, and a hint of apricot. The bitterness just doesn’t quit. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 29, 2008 Bottle from Pizza Port bottle shop. Dark amber pour. No aroma. Flavor was odd - I got some Saison like funk, pepper, salt and lots of malty sweetness. This tasted like a mix of a barleywine and a saison. From the description, there is 130 IBU’s in this one, but I don’t really understand it. I really couldn’t detect any hops. Odd beer. Suttree (2732), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA

Pours orangey copper, with a decent white head - great aroma - soapy (in a good way) and citrusy. Flavor is great- fruity sweet, with some rich breay notes. The hop finish is great, with subtle notes of citrus mixed with resin. I’m not doing a very good job describing the hop note - but its obviously a mixed of flavors, skillfully blended. Excellent. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 26, 2008 0.33 bottle at Helsinki Beer Festival 2008. Slightly hazy amber color with small head. Sweetish aroma with flowery-fruity hops, yeast spiciness, vanilla, pepper and pineapple. Bittersweet flavor with tart fruitiness, pepper, toffee, grapefruit, pineapple, some alcohol sharpness and some bready yeasty notes. I’m not sure whether the american hops and belgian yeast pair well here.
