- Joe Tucker, RateBeer.com

Struise-Mikkeller is as we said in the past "Best of two worlds". We delivered an IPA with 130 IBU, but a bitterness hidden the Struise way, counter balanced by maltyness, alcohol and rest sugars. People who do not like Ipa’s will actually be amazed, the general hop bomb addict will not understand, so yes this is a controverse brew... enjoy anyway!

Semi-cloudy light copper beer, with a soapy, lasting head - wonderfully peppery, earthy hop aroma, with some lovely floral components underneath, as well as some soft honey sweetness, bright citrus, apple and peach, and a light tartness - full but soft carbonation in the mouth - hops are quite strong up front, creating a peppery, spicy character that last throughout - this is followed but just enough candi sugar sweetness to balance it out - a lot of herbal notes, leafy, earthy character - mellow undercurrents of grain and oats - the overall impression is of an american IPA, crossbred with a belgian ale and a british barleywine - and somehow it all works quite well - very nice.

This poured hazy copper/orange/light brown in color with a think white head. The nose started off with grapefruit and citric hops followed by rock candy, yeast and spice. In the mouth it is weighty, dense and concentrated. Again, it begins with grapefruit before adding a candy sweetness in the midpalate which balances the dry, bitter hops that run throughout. While not overly complex yet it was very well-balanced and should age well.

The color was orange/brown. The head was creamy, white, and thin. The aroma was citris, dark fruit, alcohol, and strong hops. The flavor was hoppy, alchol, sweet, and dark fruit. The palate was thick-bodied. The finish was hoppy.

Purchased at Bruisin Ales. Pours a peachy orange amber with a two finger creamy light orange head. The aroma is very citrusy, mandarin oranges, sweet, light alcohol, . The flavor is strange, spicy, earthy, malty, sweet, alcohol, herby, lightly waxy. Definitely an interesting Imperial IPA. Warm sweet lightly bitter mouthfeel that finishes a little waxy and warm.

Aroma of alcohol most predominently, followed by a flowery hop smell and then a dose of candi sugar. Flavorvery big on the flower again. Quite strange and not very IIPA.Just different, not my cup of beer.

Bottle @ Beer Engine. Sweet, light grainy nose with a slightly yeasty influence. Hoppy and fruity throughout with a floral bouquet lingering on the palate, bordering on sour. Good overall, although I feel that this particular bottle was just about ready to turn.

Hazy darker amber coloured ber with almost no carbonation and a small off-white head. herby yeasty, hoppy fruity and light bitter aroma. Full palate, little creamy. Finish is hoppy, with some full malty herby and light yeasty special touches. Very nice one.

UNIQUE!
Thick dense murky amber brown with big white thick head with the most unique 3-D lacing I’ve seen. Hoppy alcohol aroma. Flavor is full of caramel hops. A hint heavy, but it doesn’t feel wrong in this beer. Nice hops presence in the flavor. One of the first few beers I have actually not minded tasting the alcohol in. Good, strong finish. Very balanced mild "hot" hop flavor. Thick creamy yummy palate.
