Struise-Mikkeller is as we said in the past "Best of two worlds". We delivered an IPA with 130 IBU, but a bitterness hidden the Struise way, counter balanced by maltyness, alcohol and rest sugars. People who do not like Ipa’s will actually be amazed, the general hop bomb addict will not understand, so yes this is a controverse brew... enjoy anyway!

Bottle from W&CP. Pours murky orange/brown with 2 finger foamy beige head. Nose is earthy malt and slight hop. Taste is very dry, bitter, earthy, slight caramel malt. Not nearly as much hop as I wanted considering it says 130 IBU, but it’s there. I little bit of sweetness from the candi sugar comes through. Overall not terrible, but way to dry/bitter/earthy for me.

Great looking hazy deep golden pour. White fluffy head...had to wait awhile to drink this after my clumsy. heavy-handed pour. Big PNW hop notes. Sweeter than I really like in my IIPA’s, but not offensively so. bread/biscuity crystal maltiness, very well balanced by an shit-ton of hops in the massive bitter finish. Very well brewed!

Murky orange brown color with a frothy off-white head. Aroma is pine, grapefruit. Taste is lemon, not overly bitter, more like Barley wine. Candied sugar really balances well along with the roast malt finish. Good stuff.

800th! Pours a lacing head with a lasting ring of off-white lace and an amber-copper body. Aromas of malt sweetness, mellow resin and citrus hops. Toffee, old pineapples, little resin. Finish is bitter and sticky sweet.

Bottle shared with the barrios, scottyp, curly. Pours a translucent mustard with decent layer of white head. Sweet and sugary upfront. It’s like they left out the aroma or flavoring hops, and amped up the bittering hops. Very green wood hop is only on the tail. The finish is like licking a hop pellet.

Pours a cloudy amber with off white head. Aroma of citrus, fruit, hops, booze, malts, yeast. Similar taste, hoppy throughout with malt backbone. Warm in my belly.

Bottle from K&L in Redwood City. Pours dark cloudy amber color with a huge lasting off white head and ridiculous retention. Aroma is citrusy and piney hops, yeast, and sweet malt. Great citrus hop and caramel malt flavor along with yeast and some apples and grapefruit. Pretty interesting and definitely different. Palate is medium-full and pretty sticky with hop resins lasting on the palate. Overall, very good.

A huge tan head jumped up during the pour and it took forever to dissipate. Its color is mildly light brown and is cloudy and well carbonated. Lacing is as thick and sticky as sprayed on insulation. Aroma is not big and offers yeast and pine. After my patience gave way I drank through the foam. Huge bitterness here! Tons of bitter hops along with sugar and yeast. Alcohol is noted. Big bitterness and big alcohol. Other flavors could have been bigger.
