jimhilt (1428), Bow, New Hampshire, USA Jun 20, 2007 Pours a five-finger+ light tan pillowy head that fades slowly leaving a good lace. Black color. Sweet spicy nose. Light-medium carbonation and very heavy bodied. Flavor is sweet, spicy and complex; high ABV is hidden. Clean finish. I don’t see anything wrong with it. $5.20 for a 330ml bottle from Tully’s Beer & Wine Wells, Me.
MuttyD (89), Cambridge, USA Sep 6, 2008 Updated: Sep 8, 2008Dark brown/red pour with tan head. Aroma is of yeast, sugar, bubblegum, dried fruits. Flavor is of the same. Fizzy on the palate and very full bodied. After taste is tangy and fruity and lingers. Simply amazing brew. Gusler (2656), Tucson, Arizona, USA Nov 5, 2007 The 330ml brown bottle gives up its deep murky brown treasure, which produces a tan head that fades rather quickly, leaving a thin covering upon the glass. The aroma of plums and spices stands out amongst the cotton candy sweetness, caramel, and a smattering of bread dough and fusel alcohol, bit of oak like sourness also breaks through, what a treat for the schnozzle. Front is decidedly sweet, grain presence perfect, bit of burnt toast and a hint of bitterness at the back, mouth feel almost full. Finish benign in its acidity, hops light but noticeable, alcohol well disguised, that’s scary, very dry, reminds me of the 7 year old Samichlaus I sampled the other day, this brew is a real tummy warmer, and also gets a “Whoa Nellie” from me. caesar (2574), Bunnik/Utrecht, Netherlands Jan 7, 2007 I don’t know what’s the difference with the other brew, but skortila managed to obtain a big bottle of this (probably just thinking it to be the regular pannepot). But taste was the same to my opinion: sweet, dried fruits, malts. Delicious again. haukur (670), Reykjavik, Iceland Nov 11, 2006 a magnificent aroma which filled the room when we poured this out of the 750ml bottle. Aroma of spices, malts, caramel, apples, dry fruits, simply awesome. Palate is a tad spicy with a malty cocoa chocolate finish. To my surprise this is incredibly balanced and well masked, and not over sugary. A world class belgian!!
