jbrus (4178), Delft, Netherlands Feb 18, 2008 Bottle@Home. Vanilla, calvados and acorns in the aroma. Dark brown, light brown head, good lace. Sweet, vanilla, hint of cognac, licorice, smooth mouthfeel. Alcohol well hidden.
plovmand (673), Helsinge, Denmark Oct 7, 2008 Bottle. Pours dark brown with a dense long lasting beige creamy head. Ripe fruit, caramel, spices and balsamico in aroma. Creamy body. Flavour is very fruity and vinous and it contains notes of vanilla, prunes, spices and a bit very pleasant sourness. Great beer indeed. Aroma is balsamic vinegar, mixed fruit and brown sugar, inviting murky brown, small tan head. A complexity of flavours, a few being raisins, pitfruits, pomegranates, loads of malt. Medium bodied, sour/tart, dry, yet oh so drinkable, most satisfying. Scrumptious! SuzyGreenberg (1028), Seattle, Washington, USA Oct 2, 2008 33 cl bottle - 2005 vintage; thanks to Sammy for the trade; pours very dark amber with thin tan head; rich aromas of wood, bourbon, candy, sugar and dank fruit; a slight tartness like the danish version and rich flavors of spice, raisins and fruit; dry and mild sour finish; very oaky and sweet; pretty damn good, but a little bit of a letdown as i wasn’t blown away by the flavors or texture JAXSON (107), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 28, 2008 12 oz. bottle, thanks Brad! Deep mahogany pour with really nice creamy lacing. Initial blast of single malt scotch whiskey. Tofee comes in quite a bit as it warms. Creamy and rich. A booziness can easily be detected from the get-go. The biggest weakness here is a strange astringent bitterness around the edges, which comes off as almost sour and simply doesn’t belong in this brew. It’s really rich, creamy, has alot of nice components, but certainly didn’t all seem to come together right. Not as good as the normal Pannepot. nightrider (242), encinitas, California, USA Sep 25, 2008 Tasted from the bottle at the Kulminator in Antwerp. Dark reddish hues with a tan head. Flavors predominant of dried fruit, raisin, licorice, almond. On the sweeter side with a very full smooth mouthfeel. Very god indeed.
