Lubiere (4464), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Oct 26, 2008 2005 vintage. A deep clear brown with orange amber hues, and an extra thick mika head. A pleasant aroma of candy sugar, dried prunes, and raisins. In mouth, an intriguing old wood and sweet plums in tatse, lightly molassey, like panella, definite lactic acid, porto notes, some astringence. A very good mix betwen a sour ale and an abt. Bieropholie import. BB 12/2012. Wasatch (270), Layton, Utah, USA Oct 25, 2008 2005 Vintage
Pours a very nice brown color, nice carbonation, nice little tan head, with some nice sticky lacing left behing. The nose is malty, with some plums, raisins, figs. The taste is malty, some dark fruits, oaky. Medium body. Very drinkable, this is a very tasty brew, highly recommended. Thanks Eric. douglas88 (1556), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA Oct 25, 2008 2005 bottle thanks to cgarvieuk. Pours a light brown color with a medium tan head. The aroma is pure goodness, I could just smell this all night; sweet fruits, some mellow vanilla and wood notes, nice. The taste is excellent; tons of fruity flavors, like some pureed strawberry and cherry, yeast, some french oak flavors also. Awesome. The best part is the amazing mouthfeel; very creamy and full, and so very drinkable. The ABV seems like nothing. Give me this everyday. JesseM (661), Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, Canada Oct 17, 2008 Updated: Oct 19, 2008330mL bottle. 2005 vintage. Pours a dark and murky brown with a small tan head. I was expecting far less carbonation due to the barrel aging, but hey what do I know. Aroma is just amazing. Very richly complex, a lot like what I remember of Rochefort 10. French Oak, molasses, brown sugar, funk, prunes/dates, old mashed up apples, a whole bunch of other more subtle things I can’t even describe. Flavour is, hmm, odd. One sip is amazing, the next is borderline unpleasant. The flavours come in waves. Starts out sweet then quickly turns very spicy and hot. The specific flavours reflect the aroma. Definitely some acidic feel to it, after the strange but intriguing funkyness. But then some times I’m hit with that weird wet dog characteristic that is oh-so gross. Not a dominating presence though. Nice dryness and a mild hint of wine. No major alcohol. Waves and waves of complexities that are very enjoyable. I can’t believe it’s actually 10% abv, there’s absolutely no alcoholic presence one would expect, it’s unbelievably easy to drink. In my less-than-expert opinion this might be better classified as an Abt/Quad. What a strange brew. Appearance: Murky brown ale with bright, light white creamy head. Nose: Clean yet potent alcoholic nose. Ripe aromatic , high pitch fruity aroma with brown malt.7+ Flavor/Palate : Medium light bodied. Slightly rustic acidic with plum, brown malts . Earthy foliage follow up. Alcohol warmth at finish. Complex, but does not deserve its hype.
mybestfriend (261), Gothenburg, Sweden Oct 12, 2008 Bottle, vintage 2005. Pours a dark brownish colour with some red in it and with a pale beige head. Aroma is of dried and fresh bluefruits - plums. Also some vanilla from the oak barrels and a sweet and malty note of fudge and caramel. Really nice! The flavour is sour-sweet and malty with note of fresh fruits that are mixed together with unripe berries (strawberry and raspberry). There is also both a sweet note of roasted caramel and fuge and a hint of maturity. You donät fel the alcohol (impressive!). This is quite nice, but I do prefer Pannepøt. thebeertourist (2751), Oslo, Norway Oct 10, 2008 Bottle, vintage 2005. Very dark brown with a small stable, creamy beige head.
